Introducing the Book & Reader Android App

I'm actually using the app to pretty often after my recent comeback, and I'm finding it incredibly useful. It's too bad that it's discontinued, but it's working great for me. Is there any way I can get the apk file so that I can manually install the app if I ever change or reset this phone?

    Current Non-Fiction reads

I'm about a third way through Personal MBA, and it's really a very condensed version of what you need to know related to business. It's really a jump point to understand the concepts, and pointing you to materials to allow you to go deeper. I like the things that it's pointing out to me related...

As a kungfu buff, I'd recommend Infinite Kung Fu!

    Who likes Kungfu flicks?

I have found another great one: Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior! Ok, it's not in the same vein, but I laughed out loud in many parts!

I would recommend two books, if you haven't already read them. One is Maus by Art Spiegelman (recommended it to you a few times now, Peder, get to it! :)), which is about a Polish Jew's effort to elude capture in Nazi Poland, eventual capture, and his story of survival, as written up by his son...

    Current Non-Fiction reads

I've just started The Personal MBA. Very interesting. It's adding shitload of books to my TBR.

May 2012: Neil Gaiman: Death - The High Cost of Living

Hmm, I think I may have this. I'll give this a read and write something.

Noodles as weapons? I've never seen that! :) But Old Beggar Soo is able to pluck flies from the air using chopsticks though. :) I think I saw Jackie spoof this in his Karate Kid remake with Jaden Smith. And thanks Meadow. Can't get to the forum right now, but will check it out.

    ComiXology

See anything there that might interest you there, Peder? It does have quite a lot of stuff that aren't superheroes... A very good percentage of the stuff I buy there aren't superheroes. If you don't mind superheroes, one of the more interesting ones I found is called Irredeemable by Mark Waid...

July 2013: Aldous Huxley, Brave New World

BNW reminds me of the Matrix somewhat. The way humans/society is engineered from the bottom up to perform designated functions, and the fact that there are some 'minor errors' in the process of creating these beings that result in them being able to achieve a higher cognitive function, being...

    Who likes Kungfu flicks?

Wait wait wait. How and where can I get this? I've asked plenty of people here, but Jin Yong fans here are those who already know how to read Chinese, for them English translations are a little less of a priority. I couldn't find any, but then to be honest I didn't turn on my super internet...

    ComiXology

There was a time when I travel weekly to a mall (sorta) near where I went to school to pick up my weekly dose of comics. Those times were tricky - comics were not available for cheap where I am, and I was a secondary school student to boot (I don't know your equivalent education level, I was...

    Who likes Kungfu flicks?

At the risk of going off topic, I only know The Return of the Condor Heroes, primarily absorbed through a very comprehensive comics series from a Singaporean artist called Wee Tian Beng (and none of the TV series adaptations), and the utterly boring A Man Called Hero movie starring Ekin Cheng...

    Who likes Kungfu flicks?

This is super super awesome! Kudos to Meadow! Let it not be said you will never learn about kungfu in a book forum... :) In the last link there's a gem of recent times - Tai Chi Master with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. It is dubbed, unfortunately, but it's a good movie nonetheless. :)

Well done, this is indeed looking much better! I found the Pride and Prejudice thread I wanted. Thanks very much Brent!

    Well done! :)

    Who likes Kungfu flicks?

Whoa, entire movies in Youtube! I'm such an old man - heard about this, but never did went around finding them. Great stuff, Meadow! Sonny Chiba appeared in one of my favourite guilty pleasure wuxia film of all time, the incredibly polished, slightly shallow but hugely fun Storm Riders! The...

    Which e-reader do you own?

She's not a reader. I don't know if she's going to make a detour to Waterstones. I suppose I'll just content myself with ManUtd's home kit from last season.

    Good home library cataloging software?

I'm using Book Crawler in the iPad, and there isn't an Android app that comes close to what it could do. I don't love Book Crawler, but it has all the fields and flexibility that I need (like custom price - I don't buy on Amazon, yo!). On Android, after sampling as many book cataloguing software...

Welcome To The New Book & Reader

A quick comment on the searching capabilities of the XenForo. I can't seem to find stuff that is very clearly available. I know there's a thread on Wuthering Heights, but a search for 'Wuthering Heights' or just 'wuthering' will yield nothing. There are plenty of old ego-boosting threads that...
