my favorite mystery authors is a favorite subject with me. Dorothy Sayers, Margery Allingham, Rex Stout, among the oldies. more modern and current authors would include Charles Todd, Anne Perry and Victoria Thompson.

self publishing is much more respectable now... the last self-publish I read was The Shack and That was a book so worth it. I do agree time is precious and when a book - and that includes someone else's idea of best sellers - offends, bores, or whatever, after about 3 chapters - I put it aside...
as soon as I finish about 6 books ahead of it, including The Greater Journey by David McCullough which has to be done in time for a fall book club meeting,

we have found audiobooks to be perfect for long drives over miles of rangeland and flatland, which you get a lot of in this part of the country. no doubt about the calibur of book To Kill a Mockingbird is... it certainly deserves its status.
