    Your Personal Library

Wow Stewart! You need more Irving, though. ;) And Nabokov. And only Joyce.

    Author: Most Read...

As a child: Enid Blyton. As a teenager: Charles Dickens, possibly. As an adult: Vladimir Nabokov or Margaret Atwood or Bill Bryson. Possibly 5 or 6 of each.

Suggestions: October 2007 Author of the Month: John Irving

I'll second The Hotel New Hampshire, because it's the only on this list I haven't read. A Widow for One Year is good, too. Surprised nobody has nominated that.

    Favorite female singers

I was beginning to have palpitations at not seeing her name. Surely the best by a long, long way, non? Also love Regina Spektor, Joni Mitchell and Sinead O Connor. Jewel, Shivaree, Deborah Harry (Blondie), Diana Ross, Jenny Lewis. There will be many more.

    Recently purchased DVDs

Received from Amazon today: Italian for Beginners, recommended by someone here) Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself, because it was mentioned on the Italian for Beginners page, and because I remember someone here (Stewart, most likely, purchasing it) Simon Birch, because it's my favourite film...

    Scariest Book Ever?

Scary? Possibly, a little. Hardly the "scariest book ever" though, I wouldn't say.

    Happy Birthday STEWART!

Hehe, I knew too. Was the cyber equivalent of 28 bumps ;) Do we get to see pics of you in your gi, Stewie? ;)

    Happy Birthday STEWART!

A gi? Oh. Quick google suggests G.I. Joe, glycaemic index and Giant Inds Inc. I'm assuming it's neither of the latter too, so a G.I. Joe? Have fun with that then. ;)

    The "Ctrl+V" Game

It's just as well I'm "playing" this game as I just checked my 'paste' at work and it's contents of an earlier PM, that I'd copied because I'd been signed out for taking too long to respond, and which I desperately would not want my employers to see :o New 'paste'...

Jonathan Safran Foer: Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close

Ooh, I've read this. Didn't realise it had been even nominated else I'd have reread it for the occasion. But anyway... I think Oskar was not only a believable narrator but a fantastic one! Admittedly, parts of the novel were far-fetched, such as Oskar's grandfather being unable to speak...

Your Favorite Song by your Favorite Band?

Winter by Tori Amos. I think I might be a tad obsessed with Tori Amos. If it must literally be a band, rather than an artist, then Von by Sigur Ros or Sanctis by Libera, though I probably have a ratio of 20:1 of solo artists to bands among my favourites.

Franz Kafka: The Metamorphosis and other Stories

I begun reading this last night, by chance, having forgotten it was this month's BOTM, so shall look forward to discussing it. :)

    Slavery

I haven't read it, so not sure if it's exactly what you're after, but Andrea Levy's Small Island is about slavery.

Number of Browsers in your HD?

I use Opera now as my main browser, because it's so much faster than Firefox and has the same features, and I like the transfers appearing in a separate tab rather than a small window (though you can maybe do that with Firefox too). Have had lots of problems with firefox recently, hence the...
