Actually, some people happen to be interested in what others have read and/or purchased; with posts like yours being the bane of the forum.
Then why don't you offer something insightful as regards style and plot etc? Instead of choosing to criticise other members, being a new member here...
Ouch! As someone who is constantly having to justify my reading (of fiction) to others, who say I need to "get a life, frankly", I would have hoped that readers could argue that reading could, and should, hold benefits to everyone, in a more tactical way.
I hate how judgmental I, and other...
Wow, did you actually read that Still? :D
I remember nominating that for Book of the Month here, but never got round to buying it until yesterday, when I saw it on sale in an independent bookshop.
I haven't read any of the books/authors mentioned here, but IIRC, fiction-wise, Alice...
Wow, Halo, you really must be a supergenius to know 19,000 swear words! :D
I got one less than Halo at advanced. Wasn't gonna say 'cause it seemed too flukey, but if it's good enough for the supergenius... ;)
Jeez Tundra
I thought some of those were quite wrong. Some were...
Ooh, more book forums to get all excited about...
Everyone lurks at Palimpsest! ;)
I visit beliefnet and internet infidels, for lurking. And am a member of a couple of MSN groups: one reading, one writing and two spirituality based.
Also post at running and rambling groups, and a...
Er, excuse me! Why didn't someone shout me along to this thread, if you're gonna be displaying er, Fabio. Wow. :D
Oh, and Pnin is my favourite, after Lolita.
I think the original poster was talking about the kind of book club where you join, buying four or five books at a ridiculously low price, i.e. 1p each, and then you are obligated to purchase further books as part of your commitment, which are of a limited range, poor quality and charged at...
Actually, I didn't finish, as I said. I was going to go on to say well done for writing it both in the first person and in the present tense. But then if you think I was positive enough already...
Hi!
Dangling from what?
For some reason now I'm thinking you're a very short guy. Sat in the car, legs not long enough to reach the ground.
Boring and unnecessary.
Back to the freaky legs.
You have? Where?
Heathrow is London. Don't you mean Newcastle?
Maybe by getting the wrong...
Muggle, you bad influence you! It's much too early in the day for anything Sofia could offer ;) and for your moonshine too. :D
Bring it on though. :p
Starry starry afternoon... :D
I'll play...
George Orwell
Jeffrey Eugenides
Margaret Atwood
Harper Lee
John Steinbeck
Joseph Heller
William Golding
Richard Yates
Marilynne Robinson
J.D. Salinger
With the ones I've read. Though, other than the top three, I have only read one book by the remaining authors...
253 by Geoff Ryman
Bear V. Shark by Christopher Bachelder
Both gifts, from someone who assures me they're "unique".
If On a Winter's Night a Traveller by Italo Calvino, because I got sick of trying to read it in bookshops.
Well so much for being guest of honour, that's work! I'd better get practising then. Think I could manage an impression of juggling on a motorbike, would steal the show... just don't ask me to put a lit torch anywhere unsuitable.
Muggle, I vote for musical laps. :D
