on how to aviod plagiarism when rewritting articles to use in a book?

Absolutely. To the OP: it's highly likely that your interpretation is going to be similar to someone else's, or even to a lot of someone elses', but not everything and not throughout. I plagiarised wikipedia once. It was in an oral exam in Spanish, though, and completely unintentional...

    Neal Stephenson: Zodiac: An Eco-Thriller

Ah. I read your review about five times, hoping that I wouldn't have to ask what PCBs are. No clue, so: what are PCBs? Lobsters or drainage pipes. I like the title.

    favorite bookmark

Your bookmark looks full of character, Janet. ABC - I totally agree - there just seems to be ready-made bookmarks everywhere (though I can't say I have an abundance of loose playing cards! ;)), whilst the bought ones become lost. I only use a bookmark if someone notices I don't have one, and...

Junk Fiction: America's Obsession with Bestsellers

I read your post, sparky. Never heard of the author. What do you think of the three books you have? I agree, the title sounds interesting.

    Are you ready for school?

I'm not ready. Not at all. The kids here don't go back to school for another three weeks or so.

God whispers; and this is what he said.

Why guess. Aren't you a reader yourself? What do you like to read? Thank you for pointing out that there are different styles of poem. I'm sure some of the admirers of your work will appreciate the clarification.

Longlist announced for Man Booker Prize 2009

Hey Peder. :) Wow, that's quite a challenge. :whistling: Invitation to a Beheading sounds appealing, since Libra (if I recall correctly) read it. It's been a while since I attempted a Nabokov... And to stay on topic a touch, to avoid upsetting the admin: Me Cheeta does look fun...

Question for Lenny (but everyone else is welcomed to answer)

Well, let's not forget Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's Venus in Furs. I read the first few pages of Fanny Hill today and thought it was quite brilliant.

Question for Lenny (but everyone else is welcomed to answer)

This thread is a surprise... This topic is already being discussed elsewhere, but I would actually second Peder's recommendation of Lady Chatterley's Lover. It's been years since I read it, but remembering it can still make me blush. That said, I haven't read any of the titles in...

God whispers; and this is what he said.

For the record, I'm a real person that read this thread. I don't know what we're talking about liking exactly, but I like the story/poem/whatever in the OP of this thread much better than some of your previous stuff, manuscriptx.

Woman borrows 25000 books from library!

Even 1,000 books seems a lot to me. It's beyond me how anyone can borrow so many without inadvertently stealing them. Maybe she has some kind of book loaning business going.

    Frank McCourt dead at 78

Did he? Ha, AQA is as factually correct as ever then. Although they said Sunday, which wasn't yesterday either...

    Frank McCourt dead at 78

Oh, I thought this was a joke. RIP also to Gordon Burn, who died yesterday too.

    Last seen...

But this has gotten excellent reviews elsewhere. Maybe it's a love it or hate it type.

    Selma Lagerlöf

Thanks for the review, beer good. Based on its title alone, I never would have picked this up, but your "fairly simple story" along with the deeper religious undertones analysis make it sound worth a read.

Who is your favourite author, and why?

Fancy that. Because yet another random list of authors would be so much fun to read. Jerry.
