Have funs sorting through it all. ;)
Then, theoretically, shouldn't it be possible to calculate just how long it would take given a certain number of monkeys and a specific piece of work given that there is a 1 in 26 chance of any given letter being typed and a specific number of letters in the...
I enjoy listening to the audio book when I am walking to and taking the metro. I am sure there were some times when I was at a scene in which the bad guys were pissing me off so much that people around me who saw my expression thought I was about ready to kill someone. :)
I'm about a third of the way through it in audio book format. Some of the characters seem too contrived but I am enjoying the story nonetheless. It isn't too deep but it is a page turner.
I almost always prefer the book. The only two exceptions I can think of off the top of my head are The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption, both of which just happen to be Stephen King works.
The Demon Haunted World - Science As A Candle In The Dark by Carl Sagan
The first book I read that really made me question what I believed and why I believed it.
Well, when you could only read the ebooks on the Kindle device people were complaining that they should have the right to read their e-books on their computers and other devices. Now that Amazon is allowing the e-books to be read on your PC and iPhones at no additional cost people are...
I think the media was blowing the whole Ida thing way out of proportion. I fully accept evolution but these news stories are somehow making it sound like THIS fossil has confirmed human evolution. Human evolution was already confirmed. It is evident in the already existing fossil record as...
The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway (I loved it)
Outliers - Malcolm Gladwell (It was OK)
The Shining - Stephen King (I liked it a lot)
A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bill Bryson (I liked it a lot)
Spin - Robert Charles Wilson (I liked it)
Well, the text to speech thing is just stupid anyway. I f I am going to go that route I will download an actual audio book. As for those other flags? I haven't ran into any of them I can't imagine any serious publisher would use them. Maybe for a free promotional or something?
OK, I have been fooling around with Goodreads for a little while now. I have a long way to go before it is complete but you can check out what I have so far at http://www.goodreads.com/bobmagness if you have absolutely nothing better to do.
Something I noticed right off the bat was the...
I am familiar with both of them. Citing them as your sources is just weakening your case in my eyes. Sorry, but anytime someone throws quantum mechanics around as a proposed explanation for the metaphysical, it should immediately set alarms off in your head. Pseudoscientists often try to...
No, we cannot create our own reality. And it is quite an extraordinary claim that you are making. I read your link in the other thread and I see no evidence that you have put forth to support your claim.
I don't think it will work because there will always be news sites that will take advantage of such a move, continue to be free, and enjoy increase ad revenues. I have never seen a news site that was so good that I would pay for it rather than going to a free, ad supported, alternative.
I started reading Spin this week. I’m a little more than half way through. I am also finding it a very enjoyable read. If you are a die-hard SF fan you might not enjoy it quite as much because while there is certainly plenty of science in it, the focus of the story is on the characters. You...
