My boyfriend said it was excellent, and made it possible to have more movies involving the original crew. I also heard the actor that played Bones stole the spotlight.
I plan very far ahead. I have over 200 books in my TBR pile, and I know in what order I will read them.
However, something always seems to come up that I never stick to that order completely.
For example, I was going to read Lord Jim next, but since I discovered VALIS will be December's...
I have a few favorite post-apocalyptic novels.
A Canticle For Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller, Jr.
Earth Abides by George Stewart
Blindness by Jose Saramago
The Road by Cormac McCarthy was just so-so and The Stand by Stephen King I didn't enjoy at all.
Well, yes, the introduction thread is quite active here ;)
Honestly, though, the other forum I have been going to is mostly active because there is constant casual chat on topics that are not even related to books. While there is nothing wrong with that, I prefer to use my free time...
Lately, I have been wavering between this forum and another one that is more active. Now that I am employed :D I believe this one will be the winner, as I won't have as much time to spend on forums.
Memory and Dream - Charles De Lint :stars3:
False Memory - Dean Koontz :stars3:
The Eyre Affair - Jasper Fforde :stars1:
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte :stars5:

Lord Jim and Under Western Eyes by Joseph Conrad
The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
I am generally a sci-fi and fantasy reader, but I have been branching out of late. :whistling:
Nope. That is for another thread. ;)
I am curious, though. I see a lot of people that seem to have a dislike for Dan Brown's books. May I ask why? I haven't read him, don't really have an interest in reading him, but I am a bit curious why so many think his work is awful.
What books are out of print that you think shouldn't be?
I've got one that has been on my mind lately.
The Girl in a Swing by Richard Adams. This is the finest horror novel I have ever had the pleasure (or unpleasure) of reading. The writing itself is poignant, and the story is haunting...
It was just past midday, not long before the third summons to prayer, that Ammar ibn Khairan passed through the Gate of the Bells and entered the palace of Al-Fontina in Silvenes to kill the last of the khal-ifs of Al-Rassan.
The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Diary of a Madman and Other Stories by Nikolai Gogol
Demian by Herman Hesse
Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace
Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk
Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon
Peace by Gene Wolfe
That is it for this year. I have...
