    biographies about bands/band members

Since you asked, I decided to look it up (I was lazy when I posted my reply). The one I read was called "Unforgettable Fire: The Definitive Biography of U2".

    Andrew Davidson: The Gargoyle

I finished it recently. I did enjoy it, and am glad I got a copy and read it when I did. It seems to be carrying a lot of hype now. Had I heard all the hype, I wouldn't have read it. I think it had it's strengths. The numerous stories within the main story were really heartbreaking, but...

Which Was the Last Book You Read in One Sitting?

The one and only book that I did that with was "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman. Though “The Invention of Hugo Cabret” by Brian Selznick came awful close. I read it all in one day, but took various breaks throughout.

Holy cripe Libra, I totally missed your message. My sincerest apologies. I never see the alerts. And thank you for the birthday wishes. I turned 38.

    why is electronica so misunderstood?

I can understand the desire to see musicians, especially those that are masters on their instruments, performing. Two of my favorite bands are Yes and Rush, who both have employed excellent musicians. Also, it takes a lot of talent to be able to play an instrument and write songs as well. I...

Doing very well. He has become obsessed with trains. And any kind of train will do. Thank you for asking.

    Fiction by "Obscure" Canadian Authors

As the title eludes to, I am looking for suggestions of fiction by Canadian authors. However, I am looking for the more obscure. I am not looking for suggestions by Guy Gavriel Kay, or Margaret Atwood, or any other well known Canadian author. I am looking for those that you don't find on the...

Speaking of Neal Stephenson: Anathem release announced.

Oh, I plan on reading it. Just not going to be able to do it before the release date. I get more time to read in the winter.

Speaking of Neal Stephenson: Anathem release announced.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this (through LibraryThing.Com). I was hoping to read it and a post a review before it was released, but seeing as my reading time is limited, and it's enormous page count, I was only fooling myself. It took me an hour to get through the first 20 or so...

I Need Suggestions For A Good Unsettling Read

"House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski might fit the bill.

Heaven & Hell novels, any recommendations?

I would add "God's Demon" by Wayne Barlowe to the list. Very compelling read.

    Poll: Suzanne Vega

Her album "Nine Objects of Desire" is one of my favorites. She's a great songwriter that can do so many different things.

    Arthur C. Clarke

Truly a great writer, and a great loss.

Rock and Roll versions of classical music?

Emerson, Lake and Palmer have done a few great renditions of classical pieces. "Fanfare for the Common Man" and by Aaron Copland and "Tocatta" which was from an Alberto Ginastera piano concerto are my two favorites.

    What gives?

It's not a very high traffic site, but it's higher then others. The reason I don't post much is because of content. If there are 20 new posts about books and/or authors that I have not read, then I have nothing to add. Part of that is not having a lot of time to read. I know people that...

    Baseball Fiction

Thanks for the suggestions, but unfortunately with all three of these, I have already seen the movie (not knowing they were based off of books). I really don't have a problem going back and reading the book, but I was looking for new suggestions.

    Baseball Fiction

I am interested in getting recommendations from others of novels with a baseball theme. The following are what I have read (three of them) or have sitting on my TBR pile. "The Dixie Association" by Donald Hays "Strike Zone" by Jim Bouton and Eliot Asinof "Coyote Moon" by John A. Miller...

    Reading Music

It's funny how when you see something posted, all of a sudden the subject shows up everywhere. I came across a book this morning on Amazon.Com that sounded interesting. "All Shall Be Well; And All Shall Be Well; And All Manner of Things Shall Be Well" which is a novel by Tod Wodicka. I then...
