My school librarians always talked to us about this award and the Caldecott at the beginning of every year. I read several of them. I still own several of them. If the award seems to be diminishing, that's a terrible shame. Half of these "popular" books are so poorly written.

Best smell: Book stores, pet stores, horse stables, most books, and almost everything from Bath and Body Works. Worst smells: rotting skunks (yes, I've smelled a rotting skunk!), burning cardboard and aluminum foil, and cars burning oil. Oh! and cigarette smoke, it makes me gag.

I usually don't like those little books that just sit there and collect dust on coffee tables. However, I am thinking of buying The Book of Useless Information to put on ours, as that is fun to read aloud with people and see their reactions.

I've worn tights and a skirt in below zero (below -20 C) weather before. It's really not that bad.
