My school librarians always talked to us about this award and the Caldecott at the beginning of every year. I read several of them. I still own several of them. If the award seems to be diminishing, that's a terrible shame. Half of these "popular" books are so poorly written.

I think that online book discussions are better because you don't have to "go" to every meeting and if you don't like the book, you don't have to discuss it.
Best smell: Book stores, pet stores, horse stables, most books, and almost everything from Bath and Body Works.
Worst smells: rotting skunks (yes, I've smelled a rotting skunk!), burning cardboard and aluminum foil, and cars burning oil. Oh! and cigarette smoke, it makes me gag.
I usually don't like those little books that just sit there and collect dust on coffee tables. However, I am thinking of buying The Book of Useless Information to put on ours, as that is fun to read aloud with people and see their reactions.
