after Stranger i didn't bother picking up anything else by him. thanks for the info, i figure i won't bother. that sort of thing pisses me off, too. i haven't read a lot of Hemmingway for the same reason.
geez- that's almost travesty on a book forum for me to say that!
in Canada it's 16 years old. it used to be fairly easy to get your license here, ie. you took the tests (paper and road) and if you passed you got a Learner's Permit. the Learner's Permit meant you had to have a person with a valid license with you at all times when you were driving. that lasted...
on the whole, i am red. often brash, sometimes arrogant, always direct. i love excitement, liveliness and passion. but sometimes i am pale pink, and sometimes i am dark, like merlot.
oh yeah, baby! the chili! who cares what it's made out of!!! you can't beat chili and cheeze on anything when you're blitzed- hotdogs, burgers, fries. YUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM
mine was 21 :) it remains the least stressful year of my life. i was in great shape and had money to burn (because i moved in with my dad for awhile). i reunited with my ex (who i later married) and we lived the carefree, partying existence of selfish youth. *sigh*
no favorite sticks out in...
i usually buy a few books at a time, so i have a small pile of "to be read" to choose from. i tend to stay within the same genre for awhile, then after about 4 of the same genre, i need to switch. sometimes i'll buy something spur of the moment and read it right off the bat. but those are hits...
best thing is a hot ham and swiss sanny. can only get them at 3 am from places like 7Eleven, but they taste fantastic anyway. i dont think i've ever eaten one sober. hmmm...i wonder what they taste like sans alcoholic influence ?
I agree, ja9. i recently read Stranger in a Strange Land for the first time, after hearing fantastic things about it. i enjoyed the story, but was REALLY put off by the mysogynistic tone. if you think about when it was written, you can see where that came from, but that didn't help me to like it...
i am usually pretty careful about what i eat when i drink, so don't usually get sick; HOWEVER, i was in Chicago last year on business and got the drunkest i've ever been. i stayed in an executive suite at the Hilton. the night before going home, we all went to some swanky steak place, then drank...
i have loads of old stuff packed up that i haven't been able to dig into for years. i'm gonna have so much reminiscing to do when i move. the only thing that brings me back now is my old photo albums. i love looking through them.
i will rent it. it may suck, but i'll take the chance on video.
BOBBY!!! if i told you that my middle-age aunt uses the work "cewl" so that she can sound more "hip" would that stop you from using it???? :S
i love klimpt also! his work is romantic and sexy. i LOVE your dining room painting- that's wonderful!
as for conceptual art- definitely agree with most of the posts here. i could probably make a killing if i displayed my husband's desk. it's a nightmare of papers, discs, empty juice...
