I think the movie was great, but as a movie. I haven't read the book but it's my guess that they're quite different. The movie probably doesn't represent the book very well, the book was probably great too in different ways, but I'll just say it again, THE MOVIE WAS DEFINITELY GREAT!!!!!
I often re-read books either to better understand them or because I enjoyed them so much I wanted to read them again! :D
I'm a pretty slow reader though. :o
Well, if Prelude to Foundation isn't Asimov's best then I can't wait to read the 'better' ones cause I'm enjoying this much!!! :D :D :D :D :D
I first decided to try Asimov after reading his book of facts (anyone else read that? it's non-fiction and it's amazing!) and seeing the...
I've just started Prelude to Foundation (I'm enjoying it a lot - big sci-fi fan) and I'd like to know what people have to say about it -- or anything else by Isaac Asimov!! :)
I'm only a teenager but I write out of free will. As a home-schooler I haven't been put off by having to write stacks and stacks of essays, I love writing. So this is how I write:
Usually in a day I write about a thousand to a few thousand words, if I'm working on something. Sometimes I'm...
Does anyone read manga, that is, Japanese comics?
I've never read one but I love anime, Japanese animation.
If anyone's ever read manga could they suggest anything for me? :)
I've watched Love Hina and I know there's a manga of it but I've heard it's even more a for guys sort of thing.
My brother read Eragon and he liked it, and I was gonna read it, but I've lost interest now. I agree that it seemed a bit full of cliches. That's what I've heard, and when I flicked through it that's what I found.
And besides, I gotta admit I see Chris as a rival! I wanted to be the first...
I've noticed that most girls my age get Dolly and Girlfriend but I think they're ridiculous - besides, my Mum gets enough dumb magazines like Who and New Idea to satisfy me when I feel like reading junk.
Instead of Dolly and Girlfriend, I get Reader's Digest, and collect old ones. I think...
I think there's at least one
I think there's at least one case of a movie that's better than a book. I've read the Princess Diaries books. Trust me, the movie was better. Although I don't know about this new one, it looks pretty dumb.
Generally I think the books are better. You can fit more...
I've really enjoyed reading the works of John Marsden the last couple of years but alas, there aren't many more books he's written that I haven't read! :(
Does anyone out there know of any authors whom a John Marsden-loving teenager would enjoy?
I like contemporary books...
Well, if anyone else out there has anything in common with me - home-schooled, teenager, named Hannah, likes Japanese culture and anime, etc - please tell me!! :D
I'm lonely... :(
I LOVE JOHN MARSDEN!! :D I've read Checkers, the Tomorrow series, Letters from the Inside, So Much to Tell You and the sequel, as well as While I Live, Marsden on Marsden and Everything I Know About Writing.
I think he's a really great author, my favourite at the moment. I'm waiting right...
My way of home-schooling is probably more laid back than most. I'm my own teacher, I just pick out interesting projects for myself, and then study on computer or in books. It's very laid back. I get to sleep in until after ten some mornings.
:p Hello, how's everybody going? My name's Hannah, and I came here cause my friend recommended it. It took me forever to get my account activated and everything! Anyway, I'm a teenager and John Marsden is my favourite author. Just so you know I've been home-educated and I love to write. :) I've...
