My parents told me nothing. However, they also did not censor my reading or movie watching, so I was very well informed.
Also, my school district was especially informative, especially considering how rural the town I grew up in is. We had the 4th grade "girls talk" with movie featuring the...
Same here. I had one person touch my hair, and then get all pissy when they were allergic to my shampoo. Like I ASKED her to touch my hair.
I hate the huggers, too. I have some clients who are huggers. I had one guy who said, "It's nice to meet you" while giving me a big ole hug. I...
MMM, Tex-Mex. Enchiladas with lots of cheese, mexican rice, refried beans, tamales, tortilla chips with queso.
Or the slightly different variety, taquerias. Tacos and tortas (a sandwich with sour cream and avocado), expecially the pastor ones, porky goodness with onions and cilantro.
I know it's a movie and not a book (maybe it was a book first? I don't know) but I hated the ending of The Piano. If the movie had ended with it would've made sense to me, instead of the tacked-on change of direction.

I really like books that take me to Egypt. Right now I'm reading Princes of Ireland by Rutherfurd, and really, the setting is the point of the book. I wouldn't want every book to be that way, though.
A big thumbs up to the Kinky Friedman reference. He's just funny, whether writing detective stories, country song lyrics, or great articles (for Texas Monthly.)
He's also running for governor here. I'll definitely be voting for him.
I agree with "Say Goodbye", I love that one. I was about to pick Sting, either "All this time" or "Why Should I Cry for you" but I'll pick the Barenaked Ladies, Pinch Me, as it's what I've been listening to lately (Also, I already have it stored on my computer):
It's the perfect time of year...
Yoga, when I can get motivated. And a treadmill, which is boring but effective. I need to stay thin so I can spend money on books instead of new, bigger clothes.
