The Viscount's Son - a quick paranormal fantasy

Meadow, I do apologise. I had been led to understand that most readers can 'guess' at vampire possibilities with the 'paranormal' tag. I see I need to make this more clear. I don't want to mislead readers. Thanks for the clear feedback.

The Viscount's Son - a quick paranormal fantasy

I've just published my first ebook - a novelette called 'The Viscount's Son' What's it about? 'The Viscount's Son' is a fictional blog that tells the story of book conservator, Emma, and her online project - to transcribe an ancient and mysterious text. The trouble is, Emma's colleague...

First Book - How I got it done.

Well you're selling your book so that's a plus! Did you end up going with smashwords as well? I visit three forums, on an irregular basis, I agree that you can end up spending all your time on forums rather than writing if you're not careful. Do you think forums can help with you marketing...

First Book - How I got it done.

I'm glad I found this thread, it's great to hear about authors who have completed their first novel and are in the process of publishing. Sounds like you did some serious planning before you wrote one word. I was happy to read this as I'm prone to a little 'over planning' myself, but now that...

    Jack London

I consider Martin Eden to be the best piece of literature I have ever read. It's genius.

    Writing Advice

Overall good advice, but sometimes a writer needs to write quickly to get out the brilliant ideas as they are coming, then go back to edit 'slowly and deliberately'.

It's official: Amazon e-books now outselling print books

I've done that before! Books can suck us in no? But I'm on a serious budget at the moment, so it's ebooks only for now.

    David Eddings

Sorry about dragging up an old thread but I really wanted to comment on David Eddings. I recently started reading the Elenium series again, as I had fond memories of it as a teenager. But now, as an adult, I found it somewhat predictable and uninteresting. I love fantasy, but what irked me...

It's official: Amazon e-books now outselling print books

On the weekend I went secondhand book shopping. I've always loved secondhand book shops, the smell, the mystery, the eco-friendly shopping. But, even well-thumbed paperbacks are too expensive for me now. I only bought two books then went home to download the others on my iPad at less than a...

    Regarding e-books

There's heaps of illustrated children's books on Amazon Kindle, and most two year olds I know can operate an iPad better than I can so ... :whistling:

    New Authors

I'm always checking out ebooks by relatively unknown authors. Most of them aren't too bad, but some are real shockers! I've yet to read one that is what I would call 'riveting' but when I do I'll post it! I enjoy seeing new authors succeed and beating the publishers ;)

    Robert Graves: I, Claudius

I loved both the book and the tv series - which I recently bought on DVD (online). The series was made in the 70s but the actors are fantastic and the story is such an intriguing one. Obviously the costuming, sets and special effects would have been much better if made today, but it is still...

Hello: Why I prefer books to movies.

Welcome Kenn, of course we all make our own movies in our heads when we read and these are always better than anyone else's ;)
