Er, isn't the whole point of a propper e-ink e-reader that it 'looks and feels' like reading a printed page, eg. a book!?
Oh, and an ipad is not an e-reader, just like a laptop isn't an e-reader. An ipad is... an ipad! Not that I have anything against ipads, like lots of devices thay have...
For an (IMO) good Graphic-Novel adaptation of a story you could do far worse than look at 'The Yattering and Jack', an adaptation of the short story by Clive Barker.
If you like the Terry Pratchet Diskworld series you can check out the 'Mort' and 'Guards Guards' Grapic-Novel adaptations.
If...
Well when you say Manga are we only talking about printed media (books comics) here, eg not anime?
My first reaction would be to say 'Miracle Man'
But does 'The fabulous furry freek brothers' count?
Now for Anime the list would be different.
Easy question: Terry Pratchet, because he wrote Diskworld ;)
It’s not at-all heavy and won’t earn me any highbrow points, but it’s fun.
And reading should be more fun than a lot of people seem to think ;)
It may depend on what you want to do.
I have a Sony pocket I’m happy with because it does exactly what it’s supposed to do; is easy to carry and read during lunch-time or on slow days at work, or when waiting to pick up my wife in the car etc; and uses standard e-book formats EPUB.
My wife on...
I think some people may be talking at cross purposes here.
I don’t think putting a ‘self published’ work up on kindle-store or whatever counts as a published-work in the ‘Published Author’ sense as the traditional market and agents see it.
For this they tend to look at what they traditionally...
I don’t normally read crime or thriller/mystery books, but I was surprised how much I liked both Cross Country by James Patterson and Worst Case by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge, both of which came free with my e-reader or I would never have read them. I’ve now impulse bought a couple of...
Well I know people who are making good beer-money from (self) publishing on the Kindle Store.
If you've nothing to loose, why not throw up a couple of your older stories on the Kindle Store, or on feedbooks or something, first; like I did.... er, I hope that dosn't count as self-publicising.
To be fair, text to speech converters are much better than thay used to be. But still no match for a profesionaly read audio-book.
I think I remember playing around with an Android text to speech converter some time last year; can't remember the name though, bad memory; check the Android store...
I'm not... then, I'm biast. I've had one for well over a year now and wouldn't swap it.
Even though my wife has a kindle, and the ability to directly download and go on-line is usefull, I still like my sony pocket reader (PRS300).
I think an e-reader is something you get used to quickly, and...
Yes, that and the readability of the e-ink screen is what defines an e-reader to me.
I'm assuming the colour ones use LCD/TFT type screens that are prone to glare, and need to constantly use the battery to keep continually refreshed.
This is the first time I've seen the iPad refered to as an e-reader.
I thought an e-reader had to be something that used an e-ink (electronick paper) type 'screen', iPad dosn't.
