I'll be interested to hear your opinion on that one, Stewart. I read it a couple of years ago and liked most of it, but was frustrated by the ending. It's possible there was a meaning and purpose there that I failed to grasp. So I look forward to your eventual review.

Thanks for the reply. I'd agree with your rating. I've read so many great reviews of this film I started wondering if there was something wrong with my perception. I liked the concept of the plot, but think it could have been executed better. My problem with Ferrell is that his character...
Last weekend I went to see Stranger Than Fiction and have mixed feelings. Most of the performances were great, especially Maggie Gyllenhaal and Emma Thompson. But Will Ferrell came off a bit flat in his performance. I ended up not really caring for his character as much as I should have. I...
Warning - may contain some minor spoilers. Forgive me if I overused the spoiler boxes, but you can't be too careful.
I posted some comments to another book discussion board, but thought I’d post something similar here (but edited). As I’ve stated in other threads here, I’m really glad to...
O.J. Simpson simply does not exist in my world. I really don’t care what he has to say, and I’m frankly astonished that there are still people who do. He's a very sick and disturbed person, and deserves to be in prison for the rest of his life. But apparently cheating justice isn't enough for...

The best short stories I’ve read recently were from “You Are Not a Stranger Here” by Adam Haslett, which was a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award. Two of my favorites you can read on the internet, Notes To My Biographer and The Beginnings of Grief (very disturbing but...
There are lots, but here’s the top of the stack:

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Jonathan Safran Foer
Neverwhere, Neil Gaiman
Kidnapped, Jan Burke
The Echo Maker, Richard Powers
Echo Park, Michael Connelly
The Tenth Circle, Jodi Picoult

I rented Thank You For Smoking this weekend and thought it was hilarious. Here’s a guy with probably the least respected job in the world, as spin-doctor for the cigarette companies; but you can’t help liking the guy and rooting for him. The speech he gives to his son’s classroom on career day...
The Fourth Bear, Jasper Fforde: Jack Spratt investigates the mysterious disappearance of Goldilocks after fleeing the three bears' house. Loved it.
Interlude in Death, J.D. Robb: Short story takes Roarke and Eve off-planet for a police conference.
The Darkest Place, Daniel Judson: A moody...
Lone Wolf by Linwood Barclay
Oh, and Mehastings - I really enjoyed Ruff's Set This House in Order. If you've already returned it to the library I urge you to check it out again when you have time. Great story, great characters, and enough twists and turns to keep you turning the pages...
CBS is planning to rerun the premiere episode this Saturday at 8:00 PM EST. I believe you can also watch the show here. I can’t confirm because I don’t have broadband.
I enjoyed the first show and will probably watch a few more to see where the show goes. I love how they handled the bomb...
Nope, I've not read any of Ruff's other stuff, although I will if I like this one. I've heard good things about it. Just started it tonight after finishing another book, so I'm not far enough along to make a judgment yet.
