I was not expecting much but I now officially love the new incarnation of this franchise. RISE of course deals with Caesar, the superintelligent offspring of a lab chimp, the scientist (James Franco) who adopts...
Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction too. It was okay (the casting definitely helped) but I was more exhausted than saddened or frightened by the end.
I agree w/this, and that's why I usually prefer the book. Also, most movies just aren't able to cover as much due to runtime and they'll drop content that may not directly pertain to the main plot but add depth - you get this with Dickens adaptations all the time, and I've watched like 10...
I liked it, although it was a little "busy" - seems like he was throwing a lot of ideas around. I liked the characters though and found it very suspenseful. I haven't read its sequel The Twelve yet.
Haha yeah they were way over-the-top in retrospect; although they were mild compared with some other stuff I was given to read growing up in a fairly rigid church community. Two words: Chick Tracts. :eek:

I read quite a few Archie comics back in the day; I liked Jughead, Betty, Ethel, Moose & Mr. Weatherbee.
So, does anybody remember the Christian Archie comics? Al Hartley was one of the regular Archie artists but he also did his own series with a decidedly religious...

I was also majorly into comic strips: Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, Bloom County (even though a lot of that one went over my head until I was older).
