My favourite 5 songs from the top of my head from the '00s. But Im afraid I dont know enough music to tell you what should of been in that list.
1. BRMC - Whatever Happened To My Rock N Roll
2. The Strokes - You Only Live Once
3. Jane's Addiction - Just Because
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers -...
As someone mentioned Morrissey, his lyrics for Smiths were exceptional (probably the same for his solo too).
All of 'What She Said'
but heres my favourite lines from it.
"I smoke 'cause I'm hoping for an early death
and I need to cling to something!
But theres too many for The Smiths. Oh and...
Yes i'm the same, reading takes too much concentration (as does music to a lesser extent) for me to do both without reading the same line for half a day!
Im not exactly sure whether you have chosen a song already but anyway..
When you mentioned his addiction i thought of Songs like 'Jane Says' (Jane's Addiction) and 'Drugs Dont Work' (The Verve), emotional and relevant. Hope thats what you want.
Funeral For A Friend
Foo Fighters
Hell Is For Heroes
Inme
Oasis (x2)
Razorlight
Spunge
Super Furry Animals
The Coral
The Subways
Its fairly easy to see which ones i travelled for, and the ones i went through easiness (considering i've only been attending concerts for 2-3 years) ...
I dislike 'trendy' bands Panic at the Disco! Fall out Boy etc You just know they wont last for 6 months, and all these so called fans can barely name 5 songs.
I hate boybands, manafactured crap. Its polluted music for too long.
I dont however agree with disliking bands for them being...
Guitar bands from 60s onwards (mainly 90's - 00's). I guess you could say pop/rock or indie or britpop etc.
Think Smiths, Oasis, Verve and occasionally heavier stuff like Jane's Addiction, Pearl Jam...
