Subscribe to Time, Esquire, Vanity Fair, Smithsonian, National Geographic, Bark (for dog lovers) and GQ, there's also a magazine called Mental Floss, don't subscribe but always read...loaded with nerdy trivia. The New York Times magazine and New York...actually I'll read just about any...
This is true...always double check your notations. There's always some imbecile who really didn't understand the text and has margin notes like "Camus might have been referring to a chipmunk in this paragraph?"
:roflI love finding stuff like this! I was a cat person for forty and some years, only in the past five have I been catching up on Planet Dog...truly another world
Interesting topic, like opera and physics, wine is something I wish I could begin to understand. Especially having landed a second job at a wine emporium...haven't started yet but joke to friend today was "Let's see it's red with meat and white with fish and Mad Dog goes with just about...
One in honor of Delilah who passed on last year, the other is Sophie. Have to get her image darkened, it was a cover up and she actually has darker more shepherd-like coloring.
After scaring the behoosis out of you with attack stories, this becomes a plea for conservation, fascinating reading indeed...not for the faint of heart however.
I got out in the yard before my kid comes home from school. We have a huge burning bush that I covered with webbing, hairy spider, skull with a tiara and bones...I enjoy Autumn a lot
No miserable today 'cept still being tender from that fall, hey grateful nothing broke
In a textbook that you're going to sell back at the end of the semester yes. When I was in school it was really helpful sometimes when points were underlined and notated. I'd add additional notes and pass it on. Any other books and it's distracting.
One thing each-
Happy today was that grim satisfaction of hearing Vick got hurt again, time to drown him in a bucket...
Miserable was trying to drive to the eye doctor to get my glasses put back together, without them. I didn't hit anything that I know of, but definitely time for two pair.
My dogs are needy and dumb as rocks...cats are on another level. George Carlin did a bit about cats one time. He pretended to be a cat walking into a glass door, he backs up stunned but instantly assumes a cool pose and says "Hey I meant to do that!" then he steps behind the couch and screams...
Just reread "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. Gripping read, but like the author you find yourself annoyed with several characters. For the price of an average house these people could play at extreme adventure.
I would recommend a book I read after my wife bought it. "A Ticket to the Circus" by Norris Church. It's an interesting perspective of a somewhat complicated writer. Norris Church was married to Mailer for quite awhile. She presents an excellent side story in understanding Norman the man in...
Aren't we all? I was in high school when StiffsLiveStiffs came out:buttrockStill remember the words to "Reconnez Cherie". There's a very good Dury bio still in print too...they say he was an all around nice guy actually
Quite easy to go both ways, I love my dogs dearly, but being a cat person is in the blood. When Sophie buys the farm someday I shall adopt a flock of kittens. Fit of jealousy? She has been known to kill strange cats...my beautiful Callie has no prey drive whatsoever...except perhaps vacuum...
Might have to beg off tonight anyways...would you believe I tripped over a frickin' pumpkin pallet at work? Remember being airborne, then impact, then the embarrassment of just wanting to crawl off and lick your wounds, crap I have to be back for 8:45am...I do have the ladies lined up however;)
