I enjoyed HP. Its a cute and quick read. Its definitely worth a try. I avoided them for a long time, but ended up reading the first four within a week once I started reading them.
BTW - Good Omens is great. :)
Paperbacks. I prefer their size, which makes them more portable, and their price, which makes the more affordable. Plus, I find them more comfortable to read...my arms don't get tired holding them up and they're easier to hold while laying in bed.
It really depends on how much I enjoyed the book. I don't forget many things for books I love, though I may get the events a bit out of order. However, for a book I don't overly enjoy, I tend to forget all but major events within six months to a year.
I'd be Lessa from Pern, and I'd definitely live on Pern.
I wouldn't mind being a bit more assertive, though perhaps not as much so as Lessa.
I would love to live next to Carrot and/or Angua from Discworld. Both seem like cool people (or person and werewolf).

Reminds me of our "homemade" football teams in Madden. My husband has the red shirt ensigns and I have the Wookies. The wookies ALWAYS manage to slaughter the ensigns, no matter which iteration of Madden we play.
That's so cute that your 9 y/o wants you to read whatever he's reading...I bet it is nice to read together. I think its great that you managed to inspire your kids to be avid readers...its seems that so many young people hate reading these days, its always a joy for me to hear of children who...
That's how I feel...I have real issues with "banning" books outright. I think its more effective to have discussions about the books, and to perhaps read the book along with the child (if they insist upon reading it), which would hopefully spark discussions on the material that you find to be...
