I would start off with Young Adult books like Paper Towns, Holes, The Outsiders, etc.
Just search 'Young Adult Books' in Google and you should find quite a few to choose from.
I really enjoy suspense books too. It usually seems my eyes can't read fast enough and I'm always looking for ways to sneak in a few more pages.
Here are a few I enjoyed that kept me on the edge of my seat:
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
Tell no one by Harlan Coben
Before I...
I'm reading 'There Once Were Stars' by Melanie McFarlane and loving it so far.
You could also check out these series along the same lines:
Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss
The Black Company by Glen Cook
Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson
You could check out 'Armada: A novel' by the same author. Also, some other books you may enjoy are:
Neuromancer by William Gibson
Red Rising by Pierce Brown
The Martian by Andy Weir
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Old Man's War by John Scalzi
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel
I am really enjoying this forum thus far. However, I have seen a lot of SPAM that seems to go unnoticed.
Like for example: http://www.bookandreader.com/threads/my-books-reviews.27654/
This entire thread is nothing but SPAM with misspelled anchor tags that lead to ad.fly links which I am...

I will admit... sometimes when I am travelling it's easier to read on my phone - so I will purchase a book on the Google Play Store, but I would rather have the...
I remember reading this book in high school. Back when reading was the least of my priorities.
I don't remember taking much away from the book. I'm thinking maybe I should give it another read now that I want to instead of have to.
What exactly are you having trouble figuring out?
I would love to help you, it seems you already know how to find a forum & post a reply - that's really all there is to it.
Google and Amazon both allow you to read a few pages of a book before purchasing it.
I would suggest doing that until you find one that you can't resist buying so you can keep reading.
I'd love to read some reviews of anyone that has read this. I love the beginning but the angel part kind of turned me off. It would be worth a read nonetheless.
Here's an excellent Wikipedia article that categorizes popular girls names in non-fiction based on their birth year:
