Where are you? (in the book you are reading) - please read 1st post

I am on Combe Island where two murder's have taken place. It is a very secluded private island with very controlled access so it obviously is one of the six residents at hand. Investigation is being hampered by an outbreak of SARS which means the island is now quarantined. So no we are stuck...

    Errors in Shutter Island

I thought Leonardo DiCaprio was mis-caste also until I saw him in "The Departed." It changed my view of him as an actor. I haven't seen Shutter Island and may not. I liked the book to much.:)

I remember. It was pure torture. Forget waterboarding, if you want me to divulge my secrets just let a bad reader loose on me.

    Sterotyping people that read.

I think sometimes there is a little bit of envy in people who mock readers. It's like they know they are missing something but they are to limited intellectually to overcome it. :D Recently my 23 year old daughter met a new co-worker who she hit it off with really well. They most...

    My Dear Father is Dieing...

I am truly sorry, Aqua. It's hard watching people you love suffer. I wish you and your family all the best.

    Sterotyping people that read.

While I agree with you about Twilight I think its a good thing when someone finds something that opens the door. If that's Twilight, so be it. After Twilight they might move on to other vampire/horror books and from there onto other themes. Remember, many people think of Harry Potter the...

March 2010: Sara Gruen: Water for Elephants

This book depressed the heck out of me. Between the animal cruelty, the human cruelty and then realities of becoming old, feeble and forgotten in a nursing home the book never gives you a break. But I did finish it so it wasn't all bad. I do tend to like historical fiction and this was a...

    Sterotyping people that read.

People will always find something to stereo-type about. In our family one of the most daming things to comment on is that so and so doesn't read. It puzzles us and makes us feel sorry for them and think there is something missing. So yes, I guess we reverse stereotype non-readers. Lesson...

March 2010: Sara Gruen: Water for Elephants

I had a mixed reaction to this book. I'll withold comment until other have had a chance to read it. I did want to say though, there is no way, no how I would go see this movie. Unless they cut out all the parts that make it "gritty." Which if they did, sort of defeats the purpose of making...

    Your book activity today

You might want to go with a different breed then a retriever for a doggie book marker. I have one of those. Replace the stuffed duckie below with a book and you get the picture. It's NOT a good idea. Sorry for the re-hijack. I can't resist an excuse to post a pic of my sweetpea.:innocent:

    Your book activity today

I will be finish The Turn of the Screw while listening to tsunami warning siren's. I don't live in an evacuation zone so we are fine but they are pretty much closing down the island and telling people to stay put unless you are in a danger zone. Good opportunity to stay home, do nothing and...

John Grisham to write legal thrillers for children

I guess anything is possible. I'm just having a hard time imagining teen's getting all jacked up on "The People vs. Blankenship - A Murderous Tale of Patent Infringment." But who am I to say.:D

    stupidest movie ever

Chiller recently showed a movie called Tokyo Zombie. It was hysterical. It was more spoof than scarey zombie, like Shaun of the Dead. Japanese zombie movie with subtitles. A must see for any self-respecting zombiefile. Definitely stupid but in a good way.
