I may take you up on your suggestion, assuming my library has a copy. It sounds like there is more then a grain of truth to the plagiarism charge. I will say I have read book after book about long and dangerous quests that must be undertaken in order to prevent a great evil from taking over...
JMO, I like used book stores to limit themselves to selling just used books and maybe music. I've been to one to many "Used Books & Collectibles" combo shops that make me feel like I'm trolling at a garage sale. I hate having to wade through the beanie baby and stuffed sponge bob square pants...
I visit a dogs forum called the Big Dogs Porch. I have a lab and this sight has lots of great information about nutrition, training and so forth. Mostly geared toward large size dogs but small dogs are frequently part of the family too so we're happy to share "the porch" them them too. Plus...
I just picked up my requested "The Mystery of the Yellow Room" from my library. I didn't realize it was large print edition (the only one in the system.) I'm starting to think this "large print" idea is pretty good actually. Very easy on the eyes.
I only throw away books that were mangled beyond reading (like the one's my dog shredded when she was a puppy.) Otherwise I donate them or I send them to my friend who I know loves to read who in turn donate's them.
I hate to throw away books. It seems such a waste.
My local library...
I would like to nominate "Manticor" (or something like that.) Seen recently on the SciFi channel. This channel along with Chill provides a neverending supply of bad movies and defunct tv series. Many thanks to them for the snake head fish movie too. Absolutely stunning.:D
I'm in the middle of The Maltese Falcon. I'm not really enjoying it that much. It's not terrible, mind you. I'm not yet ready to hurl it across the room but the idea is starting to tempt me.
Maybe the problem is this was written a long time ago in a manner popular to a different age. At...
I just watched this movie starring David Suchet. We cringed when Hasting's did it on screen too. It wasn't any better on screen.
I did recently get a chance to read "And Then There Where None" which I really enjoyed. I couldn't figure out "who done it" until it was explained at the...
I thought this might be fun and may help someone who is frantically trying to get ideas for last minute gifts.:whistling:
I purchased "An Irish Country Village" and "An Irish Country Christmas" written by Patrick Taylor to give to MIL who is 80. This are what I would call a cozy books. Very...
I just finished Pictures of Perfection and enjoyed it tremendously. In this book Sargeant Wield is allowed to really come to the fore while Dalziel takes a step back from being the main focus. As usual, it's written with so much humor and wit. A pleasurable read.
I traded it out at the...
I'm right there with you, Isabell. First I was a lapsed Catholic, then I became a lapsed Epicopalian, then I lapsed right out one of those rock-n-roll churches. My problem seems to be a healthy distrust of the very human beings that make up organized religion. I saw so much hypocrisy and...
I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next in the series. I prefer my vampires blood crazed and messy rather then wearing Edwardian garb and listing to Brahms.
I read for so many reasons but I guess it basically all comes down to adventure's for the faint of heart. It's the opportunity to climb the Andes, catch a murderer, go to a school for wizards (haha, poke:D) or learn how to make the perfect cup of tea, explore the galaxies...all from the comfort...
Hang in there eldog, that puppy stage passes and then you end up with a fabulous stress reliever. We call it fuzz therapy at our house. Trust me, all the puppy craziness is worth it.:flowers:
