    Salman Rushdie: The Satanic Verses

No, it's not. The title comes from the rumor, as expressed in the novel, that Satan came to Mohammad one night in the cave instead of God, and gave him verses that Mohammad thought were God's and therefore included in the Quaran. At least that's how I remember it being told in the novel.

    Anyone a fan of anime?

So far I've had very limited exposure; I saw both seasons of Orphen and I liked them a lot though.

    Salman Rushdie: The Satanic Verses

I've read it twice and on some levels I really enjoyed it and on others I didn't. His style of writing is very strange to a novice, because he doesn't really tell a linear story in the traditional sense. I mean, there are linear sections to the novel, but they are also interwoven and shuffled...

    I need help with something

Hi, Yes, All Quiet was originally written in German. So I guess you should leave that one alone for now. But here's another one for you: Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt is about the American Civil War. It tells the story about how the war tore a family apart. And another one: A Farewell to...

    Question Game

*laughs ruefully* Good God, on bad days it must be something like 10-12 hours. Work, you know. And schoolwork. If you had an office (or if you do already) what would/do you use to decorate it?

    I need help with something

Oh dear. Out of the ones I've read I can only think of A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, and that's really about the French Revolution, not a war. And then there's Time's Arrow by Martin Amis, which is quite challenging because it's written in a more obscure, postmodern style. It's...

Can someone recommend some good Thrillers for me?

You could try Jeffrey Deaver. He wrote The Coffin Dancer and The Bone Collector. They are forensic, mystery/police type thrillers. Tess Gerritsen is also pretty good - she writes medical thrillers.

Pick my next few reads in order! :)

I will echo Hermione's post :) In terms of murder mysteries, Janet Evanovich writes a REALLY GOOD mystery series about bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. Start with One for the Money. They're fun, with good characters and action, and just hilarious! The first book is a tad violent however...

Stephen King: The Dark Tower 1: The Gunslinger

Keep going. BUT if you still hate it by 50 pages into The Drawing of the Three, then you should quit. As you said, life is short.
