    Season 4 - The Apprentice

I dunno about that, Moto. What about the first task in the first season, selling lemonade? The women seemed pretty aware of their advantage in that regard. Though Trump and Carolyn had to put a stop to their tendency to use sex to sell. Yeah Markus is on the chopping block. But Chris...

    what's everyone up to today?

Turns out I missed the meeting with the boss. Not my fault, I just wasn't in the communications loop :( At least she wasn't mad, and I got to see my TV shows later :)

Ok folks, who are our smokers and who are our non smokers?

My dad just designed a smoking cessation program for his work (he's a pharmacist) and so from hearing him talk about it I know that quitting smoking is possibly the hardest thing a person will do in their life. So, for all you former smokers who quit, a huge CONGRATULATIONS is in order...

Starting a New Thread? Would you? Will you?

Wow. Complicated. :p I voted no, I don't feel intimidated or shy. I do, however, monitor and "mother" the threads I start, because I'm a bit more emotionally invested in them :)

    Hybrid Cars, Solar Energy, Alternatives....

My aunt used to work for the Rocky Mountain Institute in Colorado, which basically comes up with ways to help businesses use alternative energy sources that will simultaneously cut their costs DRAMATICALLY over time. For example, they figured out ways to construct buildings that involve the use...

    Barbara Kingsolver: The Poisonwood Bible

I read it for school and I really loved it! I had read The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven before so I knew I liked her, but I thought this novel was just as good, if not better. It was a little more preachy than the two I just mentioned (but not as much as Prodigal Summer) and I think of it as...

Four Past Midnight by Stephen King

Tracy Chevalier: Girl With A Pearl Earring

If you guys liked this book (as I did) you should try Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire. That is historical fiction too, set in Holland around the same time period. It's a re-imagining of the Cinderella story, but without any cheesiness, and it's pretty grounded in reality...

    boys books

I second A Wrinkle in Time! Madeline L'Engle is one of my favorite children's/YA authors. It's a fantasy story about children travelling through space-time to rescue their father, and they visit other planets and people on the way. Great storytelling, characters, and imaginitiveness.

    Comedy books!!!

Jennifer Crusie writes incredibly funny romance novels that sometimes have a bit of mystery or thriller elements thrown in to the mix. She's really witty and definitely fulfills your requirements of a funny love story. Welcome to Temptation was my favorite. It was about a pair of sisters who...

Charlotte's Web by E. B. White (Monkeycatcher: wasn't it called Babe the Gallant Pig? I remember having a copy of it BEFORE the movie came out and that's what it was titled. Maybe a different title in the U.S. than in NZ?)

Anyone ever read two books at once?

Yep, Monkeycatcher, I think that counts. :) I usually focus on one book at a time. Sometimes I'll read more than one but that's almost always because I've hit a snag or a dry spot in the one I started and then got distracted by something more juicy. Or, if something comes out that I've...
