Here's one of my favorites, other than "The Waste Land" which is too long:
"A Valediction Forbidding Mourning" by Adrienne Rich
My swirling wants. Your frozen lips.
The grammar turned and attacked me.
Themes, written under duress.
Emptiness of the notations.
They gave me a...
My favorite story? Oh, I like the one about the first time I tried to ski. I posted it in my blog actually, here it is:
What is one thing you made that you're really proud of?
I have a IPod nano and I really love it. Since I have lots of time during they day when I'm walking around from one place to another it's really nice to have. And I like ITunes a lot - the interface is one of the best I've seen.
I've seen 101. Blame Netflix I guess...:p But I don't feel nerdy or anything. I just like movies. And I think I either disliked or was lukewarm about half of the 101 I've seen on that list.
What about Jurassic Park? Or Back to the Future? Ghostbusters? Those are some of my all-time...
Try some Orson Scott Card. I think he does a really good job with interesting plots and complex, likable characters. Try Ender's Game - you'll probably like it :)
I read Guns, Germs and Steel a few years ago and I was absolutely fascinated. I had recently been asking myself the same questions Diamond set out to answer in that book, so it was a perfect case of "the right book in the right hands at the right time."
Yep, that's pretty cool :) Though, having majored in Comparative lit I happened to know about Mars when the centaurs first mentioned it... how it is connected with war/violence (the Roman god of war) so I knew that they were talking about some kind of evil afoot. I never connected it with the...
Well, I suppose Voldemort could have had something up his sleeve. Maybe another aspect of Dark magic. In fact I bet we still don't have all the facts on him and will find out more in the 7th book :D
Anyway, I still don't think Harry is the last Horcrux, and if Rowling did decide to do that...
If you are still going strong after book 5, I think you will definitely still enjoy book 6. And no, after book 7 that is all... I'm pretty sure he is done with the series.
I don't think so. In order to make a Horcrux, you have to kill someone and then put a part of your soul in the intended Horcrux, then keep the new Horcrux safe so that part of your soul is safe in turn. The making and then safeguarding the Horcrux is all very intentional and purposeful and...
I've read it, Wabbit, and I thought it was pretty good. Lots of really interesting (though subtle) observations about life, history and human nature contained within, plus a really interesting view of Eastern beliefs and culture.
I've also read Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher...
I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
-Narrator, Fight Club
Evey: Are you like a crazy person?
V: I’m quite sure they will say so.
-V for Vendetta
I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people. Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?
-Richard...
