Actually, someone was asking why he got such a bad image, I responded. I'm sorry you don't like my opinions so I'll keep out of your thread and leave you to it. So much for an Author discussion!
what do you mean chill out? I'm hardly having a seizure over him, I'm just explaining why he got himself a bad name and why I don't like him. Hate him? NO, I don't hate him but he's not a warming character either and unfortunately his image puts me off reading his books. I did assume that we are...
The thing is, wasn't he exposed as having a rather cushty stay in Prison, I can't remember all the details now but I'm sure it made the headlines, he also got 'let out' for the night to attend some big dinner party or something and he was spotted taking his wife out one evening when he should...
Well Jeffrey is a cheating, lying two faced weasel which I guess is the modern requirements for a politician these days anyway, I don't know if he's still in Jail or been released.
He might be a great author and I would love to read one of his books and find out for myself but he's got such a...
Hi there, one of the reasons I joined was cos I saw so many different people from all over the world, I usually post at another book forum but almost everyone there is from England and we always talk about English novels. Can get a bit boring sometimes.
Paperbacks for novels is a must for me, when you collect books they are smaller/thinner, cost less and are easy to pop in your handbag to read on the tube.
You might just like Pullmans books then, His Dark Materials or maybe the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander, the chronicles of Narnia are also very good.
I have never read any of his books, I think he's got such a bad/sad image and it probably puts me off reading his books, I keep saying I'll read one cos my Mum thinks he's quite good.
I love used books. I do look around in Waterstones but tend to try the other one's for better bargains, there is a good shop in Romford for all you local London people, with great prices on new books but they don't have the range that Waterstones would have.
I have recently found books...
i agree, i do tend to wait until the offers are on, eg. 3 books for £10 or a buy one get one free, sometimes the range is limiting though. i have recently found my local supermarket selling cheaper copies of certain books then the bookshop I normally browse though so I'm always sniffing about...
When did Mr Darcy get soaked? I can't remember.
I didn't think she was that bad, most people do buy Christmas presents and it was only a small party she gave for her friends.
I don't think she's very mean or malicious or maybe I'm forgetting parts of the book, she knows she has faults and...
I've just finished a book so I'm taking a break before deciding what to read next, I am trying to get a copy of 1984 at the library, if I get it, I'll read that.
oh I didn't like Emma either, I've yet to see the film version cos she puts me off.
Another character I didn't warm to was Jo from Little Women, the book isn't one of my favourites anyway but Jo really spoilt it for me and though HDM is hugely popular Lyra really got on my nerves, I suppose...
