I like dark fantasy it fulfills the dark sadastic side of me with joy to see that not everyone has to start out happy and joyfull. Add to the fact that the anti heroes in the majority of these stories don't have to talk or play nice under the same constraints that the noble side of me enjoys...
I just finished this the third installment of the Halfblood Chronicles and must say this is the best written one to date. The first was my favorite book but the characters and writing picked up so much in this book that it has quashed all my feelings for the other two books.
As far as I know that was just the teaser included with the 25th anniversary edition of the book. The sequel is still in the works so as yet it is unpublished and no news has been released that I know of since that edition.
I think Donaldson wanted his readers to hate Covenant right off and realize he is flawed instead of the typical hero. I hated that rape passage and hated Thomas for what he had done I wanted him not to be the main character when I first read through this series 15 years back.
I enjoyed Lord...
It all depends on the series really ie Xanth by Piers Anthony the book Golem In The Gears was the last I could stand for me that's where it ended. With the Recluce series by L.E. Modesitt Jr. I ended up only liking three of the books the first, second and fifth the rest of the books didn't...
I just finished both Exile's Honor and Exile's Valor last night and came away with a pretty good feeling about both books.
Alberich was definitely a character I always wanted to hear more information about and the books did a nice job of filling in his background and filling in some minor...
Just finished it up last night and must say I enjoyed it immensely the story and characters were great. The only downside to it that I see is she never wrote a sequel for it and it really seems a shame the ending left you wanting for more.
The Worm Ouroboros by E.R. Eddison is a good read full proof that there was well written fantasy pre Tolkien. (Back Tolkien fan boys back I say)
I have just finished The Urth of the New Sun series by Gene Wolfe and have started The Mummy or Ramses The Damned by Anne Rice for a little...

For this month I'm hoping to finish the New Urth series by Gene Wolfe currently I am halfway through the third book "The Sword Of The Lictor" with two books left to go.
I have found this and the first two books too be a great read so far I really enjoy Wolfe's style of writing and the plot...
What your missing is two short stories the first was printed in "Legends, edited by Robert Silverberg" and the second was "Legends II, edited by Robert Silverberg" as well.
Very good reads if like me you've read any of the various authors works compiled within the two books. So if you go pick...
Being the owner of a large selection of fantasy and science fiction I no longer lend books out haven't for quite awhile now. Nothing I hate more then seeing a book come back with doodles drawn over the pages, a broken spine or whole pages that were folded in half because people didn't have the...
Very difficult choice I can only give three off the top of my head that I can seperate from my 100 other favorite books.
3. The Thief Of Always by Clive Barker
2. The Worm Ouroboros by E.R. Eddison
1. Time And Again by Jack Finney
Even then after typing them in I already want to change...
I read The Amytiville Horror when I was 12 scared the pants off me for days after I finished it. Don't know how it would hold up now though Lol that was a long time ago. I remember Ghost Story by Peter Straub being quite good but that's all I can think of right now.
