Once I'm past the first few chapters of a book, concentration isn't a problem for me. At first, however, I really have to force myself to keep on reading.
I'm having reader's block. The last book I read was Summer Sisters by Judy Blume and before that I read Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier. I have tons of books that I haven't read, but I can't seem to get interested in one. Any suggestions on what to do?
Here are all the books I remember reading in school:
Romeo and Juliet
Animal Farm
The Great Gatsby
Old Man and the Sea
The Crucible
Tuck Everlasting
Bridge to Terabithia
To Kill a Mockingbird
Julius Caesar
Antigone
The Outsiders.
A Raisin in the Sun
The play version of The Diary of...
Generally I keep them, but I don't have any more shelf space and I'm now piling books in my closet floor. I hate to have to get rid of books because if i liked it at all, I'll probably eventually buy it back. If it's a book I didn't like, I'll trade it in at my favorite used book store.
I always have a hard time choosing what to read next. It usually takes me a couple days of picking up random books and attempting to start them before I seriously get into a book and read it all (which explains why many of my books are partially read).
I always have music on when I'm reading or writing. Instead of distracting me, it helps me concentrate. (Weird, huh?) If I didn't have it, I wouldn't be able to concentrate. Silence is too distracting for me.
On weekends and school breaks, I read practically all day because there's not really anything else to do. During school, I read whenever I get a bit of spare time.
