Labor Day
America's salute to the working man, and a good excuse (like we yanks need one) to tie one on. Our farewell to Summer.
and, BTW, it is definitely NOT spelled with a 'u'!! :D
My mother has never uttered a swear in her life. At least not that anyone other than she could hear.
My father reserved his curses for special occasions, too.
- The grand opening of a pack of cigarettes.
- days of the week that ended in 'y'.
- the release of air from his lungs.
You know...
Never thought about it, Peder, but my elementary school playground was asphalt. We had steel monkey bars and all that, too. The playground in the projects where we lived was gravel!
Now all you see is sawdust or wood chips.

I think percolated coffee is much more tasty than the drip stuff. Just an opinion, probably tied more to nostalgia than fact.
Mom used to make the big percolator on weekends and I loved the smell that filled the house!
goooood stuff!
Thanks, Sitaram!
I love a good debate between the Brits and the Yanks, but I was scratching my brain housing group trying to figure out what the f*** an ootp was! :D
No smartassedness taken! (please don't worry about offending me. I'm pretty thick, both of head, and skin! :D )
I really don't know too much about what sets the price that I pay at the pump. I was aware that much of the price was taxes, but I really don't understand where all the profit is...
