I'd like to add that I'm talking about comedies which were intended as comedies. :D Accidental comedy is another thread altogether.
Adam Sandler, Will Ferrel and Ben Stiller make me physically ill.

For the record, I loved AI - one of the most gorgeous looking films I have ever seen. And the ending, if somewhat overlong, does seem appropriate, I think.

Only two films have made me laugh out loud on a regular basis, and still do - these are Ocean's Eleven and Shrek.
All the SNL Alumni do nothing for me, nor do the Wes Anderson flicks (Tennenbaums and Aquatic) or the Sandler flicks (or is he from SNL also?). Jim...
It's still incredibly hot over here, but slightly less incredibly hot than it was yesterday. I've mopped up my brain and poured it back into my ear, so perhaps it'll stay put, today.

I agree with what you say, about getting to know their personality first, but I believe it's there where the danger lies - it's so very easy to embellish your good sides and 'forget to mention' your bad...
Really looking forward to this. I loved the previous Spielberg/Cruise collaboration, Minority Report, and the trailer for this one looks spectacular as hell, so what's not to like?
