    Borders bordering on bankruptcy

It sucks. I like going there and looking around and I probably buy 1-2 books there every month. But yeah, I must say I like going to Barnes and Nobles a lot more. It's just always cleaner (bathrooms/floors) and the atmosphere is better. And Barnes and Nobles always has a bunch of interesting...

    what is wrong with society

I think the funniest crap ever is how much freedom, and especially freedom of speech, is jammed down our throats in elementary, middle, high school and college. They jam it down our throats, then they censor the crap out of tv, radio, ect, and ban anything they don't like.

    Too many people in college?

I just got my bachelor degree about 7 months ago. A lot of kids don't really care about their grades because they know they are going to get the same degree as someone that studies their ass off and gets straight As if they get Ds and Cs, so they party all the time, blow off class, and half ass...

    If you......

A Treatise of Human Nature by David Hume Why? Because it's the type of book where you would need a great deal of time to read and reread it in order to understand it properly. I think if you could only have one book on the island, you would need one that you could use a lot

    Book recommendations...

The Demon King and The Exiled Queen ( 7 realms novels) by Cinda Williams Chima. They are so good. They seem more mature and edgy compared to most young adult novels, which makes them really good. If you like young adult fantasy books, you should definitely give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

    The Official Book Censorship Thread

I think it's a shame that in k-12 education we get slammed with the idea of freedom of speech, when in reality, we are only free to say the things that the majority and people in power want us to say. Banning any book seems wrong, but it is understandable if some teachers just don't want to...

Please recommend me a good book with a meaningful theme!

You should go with the The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I used it for a high school paper. It's not too long, in fact it is a little short compared to most novels, but it has a great and easy to understand message that would be perfect for a high school paper. Plus, odds are your teacher has read...

What do you think of the prices of new books?

You guys should become borders reward members by the way (it is free to join and get the coupons), I get emailed 30 to 40 percent off coupons every week pretty much, which makes buying hard covers and even paper backs a little more reasonable.

    Recently Finished

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens... very slow story, but written beautiful. You just don't find modern books written as beautiful as this. His sentences flow together very well and some of them are very thought provoking and philosophical.
