I've done this with Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell that I'm currently reading (a hardback..definitely necessary to do this fall open thing) and closed my eyes and pointed to:
"The truth was he was beginning to feel decidedly uncomfortable."
Hmm. Am I? But then, I'm not a he either. I must...
I've checked The Void out from the library. There's a picture of Perec on the back..he certainly looks mad..however he had it much easier than Adair, what with french allowing "la" as the feminine "the". English must abolish "the" altogether. The sentences don't flow very smoothly, but what...
That is certain. I am nothing if not sarcastic. (perhaps that should go in the nothing thread..)
I have just had a realization about the lemons. I don't have a lemon strainer..nor do I have any tall water pitchers. I can't make lemonade..unless I squeeze it into a bowl.
I have a reoccuring dream where I drown. I have died over and over again. Which is funny..since I have nearly drowned twice, which is the closest I have ever come to dying.
I never thought I'd get pregnant from eating watermelon seeds, or that a watermelon would grow in my stomach..but I was the gullible little sister who believed my sister when she told me a watermelon tree would grow in my stomach. A tree? Watermelon doesn't grow on trees. I was an idiot. I...
I'm am so glad to discover I'm not the only one who didn't like Wicked. I thought it was very boring as well. I tried to read Son of a Witch, but couldn't bear to read more than the first 2 chapters.
This is a difficult question to answer. I love Anne of Green Gables..but I also love Northanger Abbey (but only because it's ridiculous). I can't choose.
If you could go back and change a decision you made sometime in life..what would it be (if there is one)?
all my lovely peaches taste icky. poor me. That's even worse than buying grainy apples, since I wasn't prepared for possible disappointment. Perhaps I should start a thread for depressing occurances. I keep dumping my occurances in here..but perhaps they aren't as random as the spirit of this...
oh yes, WOMBAT. I knew it was something longer but all I could think of was OWL. You must let me know when the next test comes up. There's no point in both of us checking a certain sight to see if the sign is gone from the certain door..now, is there? Teeheehee..
Oh. I think I've been there..and I couldn't get into the secret backroom or something since I didn't have any OWL test results...and the testing period had closed. I too am a nerd.
That question wasn't to Gem in particular. It is to anyone. lady.c--when you say punting in america..you mean punting a football, right (or should I say..american football)? I guess most people would answer my question about punting as "no." Well, I'll answer my own question then.
No. I...
U.S. shows always stop midseason and show reruns (excepting reality shows). I've never known it any other way. Lost certainly isn't unique in that respect. I know plenty of people who purposefully don't watch the shows until the season is over and then watch them all in a row...it's too...
I have a sewing machine too...and I can use it. Sort of. I have made entire dresses once or twice under duress for weddings, but am really only good for hemming.
Secret lemonade is forthcoming.
Yes, I have an excellent idea. Post the description in the Book Search forum ;)
Google can only do so much. Without names..you probably won't get anywhere.
