I'm a bit divided on this. Normally I would'nt have been, but a few weeks ago, I was watching a documentary on the UKTV history channel during the early afternoon. It was a Timewatch re-run with dramatised accounts of a German tank driver in Russia during WWII. One clip showed Nazi tank crews...
You could be right about it being meant to be a lot darker, seems there's a directors cut DVD edition out which is apparently more violent. Either that or its just the usual marketing ploy (extra few worthless scenes, just to add sales)
Thanks for the tip.
I'm not a huge military buff but I do like the books by that Ambrose fella (you know, the Band of Brothers guy, his first name escapes me). the D-day one was a riveting read, if a little long.
I also love books on ancient history, theories of evolution, cosmology amongst others.
I love historical epics, but did'nt get to see these at the cinema (mainly because my girlfriend hates historical epics!) so I'll get them on DVD.

A perennial argument in discussion forums, I know, but one that always fascinates me. I like to hear peoples opinions on this; Who here still clings to the religious idea of a god being responsible for the universe and life on Earth, despite all the scientific evidence to the contrary, and who...
Kickboxing! I LOVE combat sports, although at 34 I'm getting a little old for competeing now as its an incredibly demanding sport. My favourite position is in a corner taking a pummeling.
Yup, the 'Nights Dawn' series was pretty good. If you want a perverse take on the old sci-fi space piracy and romance thing though, look for 'The Gap' series by Stephen Donaldson'. The plot has more twists than a bag of twisty pasta stuff, and the characters are certainly memorable!
Hi Occlith, thanks for taking the time to give feedback.
The 'sun killing gloom' is of course the depths of the sea, as the poem describes what the boat is travelling through and over.
The 'gigglers' are children, this poem describes a boat trip, no other day out, like a trip to the beach...
