Would you participate in this book group?

Just a few quickies and if they were covered and I missed them, I apologise in advance. Do you get a new "partner" every quarter? I think that would be for the best. Do we have a timeframe for when it will kick off? And what will it be named to differentiate it from the BOTM Book Club...

    Vote for September 2010 BOTM

Surprisingly, I own three of these books but they have received a total of only one vote between them! Having 3 books in the voting is quite amazing because despite having ~ 300 books in my collection, these days I generally borrow books from my local library! I have recently been buying...

    Revamping the BOTM process

I love the BOTM on BAR and when I first joined I immediately started borrowing some of the previous months BOTM winners. My only problem comes down to my reliance on a book's availability at my library. Other than that, my only other "issue" is with my reading speed. This generally means...

Poppy Z. Brite:The Ash of Memory, the Dust of Desire

Just finished her debut novel "Lost Souls" and saw "Exquisite Corpse" in a thrift shop recently. I like her style. Is this novel "gay themed"? "Lost Souls" was nominated for a Lambda Award for outstanding gay themed novels.

    Nice Surprise (Unexpected!)...

Firstly, congrats on the story Aqua. One small query... should it have said "blood sugar dropped" rather than "blood pressure dropped". I noticed this because my wife is an insulin dependent diabetic.

Iron Man 2 - any one who liked the first one, should like this one too. Scarlett Johansson's character is a good addition and Mickey Rourke does a great job as Whiplash.

    Sterotyping people that read.

My two half-hour breaks during my work day are spent outside on chairs under a shade sail in a garden like setting. Getting into the fresh air to eat my morning tea/lunch and being able to immerse myself in a novel is such a wonderful daily highlight.

    Favorite book store?

Borders is definitely my pick for new books. They have a great range and even carry imported magazines too. They even have computer terminals that allow you to personally check their catalogue rather than having to ask someone behind the counter. Oh yeah, and you can get a hot chocolate there...

    Book recommendations...

My son has just turned 7 and he likes the Zac Power series. Zac is a child spy along with his other family members. Definitely the sort of thing my son seems to find cool and interesting The books are available for different reading levels which is great for kids transitioning between needing...

    True Blood

My wife is fully hooked on these books and is devouring (pun intended!) them at an alarming rate. I watched the first season only recently and really need to catch up with season 2 before season 3 airs here.

    Hello all

Yeah he is a cool character and Don Cheadle (one of my fav actors) did a great job playing him in "Devil In A Blue Dress". Hope you don't get hiccups too often! Although a mouse squeak is at least a cute noise!
