I dabble in the journalism trade, so I am always surrounded by non-fiction. To get away from it all, I read fiction. Now as for biographies, I don't care much for people I don't know. Why would I want to read a book about them? I know that is very narrow-minded but I would rather spend my time...
Hmmm... I'd have to say Vonnegut's futuristic (dys)(u)topia Harrison Bergeron. That one sucked me right in on the first sentence and wouldn't let me go until I finished it, leaving me beaten and bruised. Great story from the master of satire.
Since I last posted in this forum, I purchased a ton more books and a few more came courtesy of my dad's account on amazon (school books). :)
Ulysses- James Joyce (Finally!)
The Wild Boys- William S Burroughs
Junky- William S Burroughs
The Complete Short Stories of- Ambrose Bierce...
Have you ever had a wish/prayer come true?
Sort of. When my brother was hit by a car he had a severe concussion. He didn't even know what year it was! I prayed that he would be okay and that there wouldn't be any brain damage. One night in the hospital and he was perfectly fine.:)
Favorite...
Anyone know of any good ones?
Ixnay on American Psycho, the Harris books, and reference books.
I'd prefer if it was from the point of view of the killer.:)
Which books?
If you mean 'The War of the Spider Queen' books, R.A.Salvatore is not taking the credit as author, just sort of a plot/character creator and founder of the project.
10p? I'm sorry...I'm an ignorant American who doesnt know what the hell that is. The postage would probably cost me what the book here would though...
I want to get Joyce's Ulysses, but its really hard deciding which edition to buy since this is a book has been revised and edited over and over again. So, does anyone know which version is best? Price is really not that important. It is JOYCE after all.:D :D
Its sad but true, I am a book hoarder. *MINE* I have two book "shelfs". One with the "better" nicer, new-when-bought books and the other is for the used books or less nice books..Its sick, I discriminate books...I buy them faster than I read them but I can still find some spare space...
Oh yeah I love both the covers of Haunted too. Way better than the trade ones I've see.
Yikes! The A Clockwork Orange cover is awesome too...nice that only people who've read the book would understand the milk.;)
