There is a higher power than the turtle, it is called Gan, also the turtle is a minor deity, there are other deities like the turtle in The Dark Tower.
I'm a big King fan myself, there are still a couple of his that I haven't read yet, Throttle being one but I'll get around to it eventually. Welcome to the forum Kat.
Well, I don't think most fantasy sucks. You ever read any Michael Slade books? If not, try Headhunter, it's a bit of whodunit, police procedural, and psychological horror all rolled into one.
I always enjoy the books better than the movies with one exception so far, The Hobbit. I love the book, don't get me wrong but it is flawed and I feel that Jackson, so far, has fixed those flaws without being disrespectful to Tokien's story.
Right, it pissed me off because I really wanted to see Tom but I do understand that he was an unnecessary character that doesn't really add a lot to the storyline.
Ok, perfect, so my suggestions would be...
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke
Incarnations of Immortality series by Piers Anthony
Earthsea cycle by Ursula K. LeGuin
Ysabel by Guy Gaverial Kay
Weather...

I could probably suggest some Fantasy to you but it is a very broad genre, any clues as to what may interest you would help figure out what you might like. Do you like epics that involve magic and made up worlds? Do you like fantasy where animals show qualities like humans (Watership Down, The...
I realize that, it just irks me when people bash any writer for no reason. I get that everyone has different tastes, but is it necessary to be hateful about it.
Cabal, Weaveworld, The Thief of Always, The Books of Blood, and The Damnation Game are all terrific. Didn't finish Coldheart Canyon but I will eventually. Haven't read anything else by him.
Dan Simmons, I've got nothing at all bad to say about his writing. I loved Summer of Night, Song of Kali (my favorite), and Carrion Comfort. Even after reading just those three, I have already ranked him into my top five favorite horror writers.
Was this really necessary? You don't like King, ok, that's fine but why bring him up in a discussion about Ray Bradbury? Are you purposefully trying to get King fans riled up? Being a King fan myself, it pisses me off when people, for no reason at all, try to slam King. I love Bradbury and...
Maybe it will be, I've heard a lot of people say they've tried and tried to read a book and finally when they do they love it. Maybe you never will like it, everyone has different tastes.
