    Classic books into good movies?

I did see him in The Bucket List (but not As Good As it Gets ^_^) and although it was a very subdued role he was still kinda giving off that strange old man wackado vibe. I don't know... maybe it's me. Don't get me wrong, he's one of my favorite actors, but in One Flew Over I almost didn't...

    Re-reading books

I don't typically re-read, but there is one book that I re-read almost annually since I bought it: A Clockwork Orange. I just love that book. I first read it when I was 13 and it was increadably ground breaking for me because it was the first truely controversial books I'd ever read. I keep...

    Intimidating Reads... Eeeek!

This depresses me... For school I had to read Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury and I just didn't get it. I had been wanting to read it anyway, but I was nervous because of all the things I'd heard about how difficult it was. I had gotten through the first chapter and felt like I'd read 70 pages...

    Between Books

I tend to buy books in bulk and end up with a pile of unread books that I'll eventually get to. There usually is no in between for me because there's a pile just waiting for me.

    Saw V

At first I thought they were very cool. (Though I first saw them in middle school) The first and kind of the second was okay, but as they keep coming out it falls out of the genre characteristics. It's not scary, just nasty and boring. In the beginning it looked promising, but it just went south...

    Classic books into good movies?

Even though the movie really didn't follow completely I still liked One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It was quite possilbly the only time Jack Nicholson did NOT play a creeper character. I also liked A clockwork Orange but I could possibly stand to see a remake ... maybe.

Suggestions: June 2009 Book of the Month

It is very sad, but I really like it and I would suggest following it up with a funny and uplifting read. ^_^ Not good to be too depressed.

Suggestions: June 2009 Book of the Month

I don't know if this was already done before (it's rather popular), but I really liked Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.

    Ray Bradbury

I always thought that was the neatest thing! Then I got to thinking, "What if this actually happened and I had the responsibility of memorizing an entire book?" The question then became: what book? I still can't answer my own question. I don't know that I could decide. For me, though, it would...

Do You Have a Story Idea (Novel or Short Story) in Your Head Right Now?

This is a relatively old thread, but I'm gunna do it anyway because I like the subject! (A small bit of this story is posted in the showcase.) Before I start a synopsis I'd like to point out that the absence of a clear setting or character background is metaphorical. The story is about a...

    *First time* untitled short story

Wow. The dialogue is pretty much the ONLY thing you have to go on. That's amazing, but then again... that's Hemingway, I guess. I'm also deffinently relieved. Not that I overstepped any boundaries in my story, but it's often said that you have to know the rules before you can break them.

Where are you? (in the book you are reading) - please read 1st post

I just finnished being a happy newly wed, but not before a bastard child tricked me into thinking my bride was a slut and allowing me to embarass her at our wedding to the point that she faints and I'm again tricked into thinking that I accidently killed her... but it was a happy ending... ^_^...

    *First time* untitled short story

Thanks bleumana! That's always been an issue. The part I had the hardest time with was a bit later on the in thstory when he gets into a pointless argument with someone. I wanted the conversation to start out friendly and kind and then slowly grow in frustration with one another to the point...

    Book Names

My friend is a writer and during the election we volunteered as phone survayors. We went down a list of peoples names and called them one by one. (yeah, I know... I would have hung up on me, too.) So she kept noticing the interesting names and eventually made a two columned list on the back...

    *First time* untitled short story

Thank You very much! ^_^ I forgot to mention that I am terrible at spelling. I did notice the great amount of description of the pack which is not important, but the apple is very important to the story and I just wanted to draw it out I guess. It's mentioned two other times in the remander of...

    Book recommendations for a preteen?

I didn't read too much when I was 10, but I remember when I was 11 that I REALLY like The Giver by Lowery. That was a great book!

    *First time* untitled short story

Okay. So. This is an excerpt from my first short story which I have yet to title... or revise. I've only let my best friend see it and now I'm about to let a bunch of people I don't know look at it, so I'm a bit nervous... ok, then... Here we go. Well... Okay then. That didn't really...
