Need lots of suggestions on what to read.....

Oh good, I'm glad you're liking them! There's seven books in the Foundation series, so if you like it you've got more to read there. You might also like Ray Bradbury and, if you can get your hands on them, Rod Serling's tales from the Twilight Zone. They're less political, but Bradbury...

Need lots of suggestions on what to read.....

Hope you like them. Which Asimov and Herbert books did you buy? The Dune series has six books in it. The first one could be read alone, but I think the full impact of the story can only be gotten from reading the whole series. Hope you enjoy your purchases. Let us know what you think of them?

    Are you gay?

Sounds probable. I think the fact that most women who claim to be actively bisexual aren't actually bisexual and are just either trying to impress men or getting caught up in the whole 'bisexual women are cool' trend also contributes and there don't need to be new words. We already have words...

Looking for a great sci-fi space book

I've read this one, too. I liked it.

Need lots of suggestions on what to read.....

You might like Frank Herbert's sci-fi Dune series. The world he writes about is supposed to take place very far into our future and while it deals more with corrupt religion, the religious group is basically the government. Isaac Asimov books are also good and are definitely sci-fi with some...

What do you use as a bookmark?

I have to cover the words below when something exciting or important is about to happen. Like if a killer's name is about to be revealed or something like that. If I don't, then my eyes just skip down to try to sneak a peak.

What's the most tedious book you've read?

I couldn't get through it either. I thought he focused on the wrong things. Maybe I've just got to get used to his writing, but maybe I just don't like it :p

    Suggestions: Young Adolescence

How young is 'young adolescence'? Some books I'd recommend: The Pendragon Adventure series (10 books projected, 8 so far) by D. J. MacHale The Princess Bride by William Goldman The Banned and the Banished series (5 books) by James Clemens Harry Potter (7 books) by J. K. Rowling The...

    name the worst invention

Haha, I just heard about that a few days ago on another forum. Some guy on the forum was from Germany and he bought one. Said it wasn't too great. I can imagine.

    New to reading

The Dune series is one series where I like the story, but really wish a different author had written them. I have trouble getting into Herbert's style, despite the fact that I really like the books. I think the best way to begin reading is to go for what you like, regardless of what genre...

    Patrick O'Brian: Master And Commander

My boyfriend read the series and my friend read it and they both love it. My boyfriend's been bugging me to start on it and I've got Tasku making sure I finish the first book by the end of March (I think that's when I promised I'd finish it). I'm looking forward to reading them, though I'm...

    HELP Please

Are they the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books? If so, then they seem to still be sold here.

    Twilight The Movie

I've only heard who they've cast to play Bella and Edward and they're currently looking for someone to play Jacob. I'm surprisingly happy with both choices. Edward: Bella:

Nabokov's Laura; to burn or not to burn?

Burn it. Especially with an author like Nabokov where he's 1) a perfectionist, and 2) his works really should be viewed whole to be fully appreciated.

    Paolini's Brisingr

Plus, if you're lazy and impatient pre-ordering is the way to go.

    Paolini's Brisingr

If you're pretty sure you'll like it, I'd go for the pre-order. Definitely.

You know you're addicted to reading when...

That's my bag size requirement too. I had a great one that had enough room to fit hardcovers, but the strap broke. I won't admit that it broke because of the weight of the books I crammed in there :o

    movie poster book covers

I agree with you. I hate it when they do that and I agree with you that it takes the focus away from the book. They're usually uglier covers too.

When looks are more important that content

Yeah, but as long as they don't know Dutch, it won't matter, right? ;) :p Really though, this is just silly. But they do also say that they supplied books for movie sets, which at least that I could understand.

Life of Pi: Does the Fiction Cheapen?
