Och aye ;) We also live on nothing but whiskey, our men wear skirts with no pants underneath and we spend most of our time (when not fighting and drinking) chasing haggis round the mountains :D
I came home from uni early one afternoon to hear my flatmate screaming 'Yes! Yes, oh baby baby!' etc etc, headboard banging, bed squeaking the works. Shut the front door a bit too loudly and all noise stopped instantly. She came out 10 minutes lately looking slightly mortified, and there was...
I like this possibility best, the story wouldn't be quite as amazing without the tiger. And it is meant to be a story that will 'make you believe in God', so the more amazing the better. I think the book's deliberately designed so that the reader gets to choose which ending they liked best, but...
I did this book at uni, and apparently the book has a whole undercurrent about sex and syphillis (nice) because at the time of publication blood was used to symbolise sex. The scene when the three female vampires attack Jonathan was very risque at the time. Random piece of trivia but that's what...

The turtle scene I thought was particularly gross and unneccessary, but as a horror movie i think it definately did the job. I was a bit irritated by the fact they kept hammering home the idea that the people from 'civilised society' were more brutal than the cannibals (by the last line 'Mmmm...
Love Spaceballs :D My favourite bit is where the capture the stunt doubles instead of the real characters....or where Yoghurt (did I just make that up, doesn't sound right?!) is showing off the merchandise you can buy after the movie including the Spaceballs flamethrower :D Pizza the Hut made...
That's strange to see this mentioned, I watched 'Cannibal Holocaust' the other day. I am a die-hard seasoned horror fan, and it wasn't scary, but I did have to take a minute at the end of it to get my head together....
I think it depends on why it's done. In books where there's a lot of slang and dialect, I think it makes the pace faster and more conversational. For example in Frank McCourt's 'Angela's Ashes', or anything by Irvine Welsh or Lewis Grassic Gibbon, the speed at which the Irish and Scottish speak...
