what, would we be talking about scary guitars?

That's what's fun about TBF-you can start a thread about something and it winds up being about something else. :D

    I've had it

    Oh, YES!! :D

Indeed it is! The scariest thing is that clown doll in "Poltergeist". I wanted to throw that doll out as soon as weird things started happening!

but have you seen the TV miniseries?

Who is your all-time favourite movie star ??

Cary Grant. Loads of charisma and multi-talented. Gary Cooper is #2 on my list. Bette Davis is my favorite old-time female star.

If anyone has seen "It", that'll do it for them as far as clowns goes. I can't remember why I don't like clowns, I used to love them when I was a little girl and went to the circus. I never liked marionettes either, don't know why, and after I saw that movie "Magic" with Anthony...

    I've had it

someone here has a clown avatar that freaks me out when I'm reading a thread and come across it. Asking that person to change his/her avatar would probably just encourage the troublemakers here (and you know who you are ;) ) to change theirs to clowns.

No clowns, please. Just no clowns.

Thank you for the recommendation! I'll see if my library has them. :)

It's really refreshing to find a series where the female protagonist isn't described as stunningly beautiful, never makes a mistake, etc etc. Rei is clothes-conscious, but not to an extent that detracts from the story-I've read books with well-conceived female characters but was turned off by...

Well, I didn't get very far reading DVC-maybe 50 pages-but I'd think a book like that would benefit from being made into a miniseries rather than a two-hour or 2-1/2 hour movie, although from what I did read, eliminating the flashbacks would be an improvement and significantly cut down on screen...

    book box?

    That goes without saying! ;)

    book box?

I was interested in getting one, or even hollowing out one myself, then I realized I'd probably forget which book was the "secret stash" one. Plus I think burglars would toss all the books on the floor looking for such a thing, but if you're just looking to foil snooping siblings, kids and...

When to give up on a book

I give it about twenty pages or so and if it's not keeping me interested, I'll put it aside until I'm desperate for something to read. (unless it's a libray book, whereupon it goes right back to the library and is forgotten.) I started a book that I'd bought last night and I kept getting...

A Warning that I have arrived

I think if a self-published book was breathtakingly good, it would only be a matter of time before the word-of-mouth spread and the book would get snapped up by a major publisher.

What makes a book a "favourite"?

You're giving me a headache! :D I never really thought about what made my favorite book (and I don't have just one) my favorite book. I suppose my favorite books are the ones that, as you said, resonate with me on different levels. For instance, P. J. O'Rourke's Holidays in Hell and any...

Do you judge a book by its cover?

I have to wonder what would happen if books came out with no covers, like they did until fairly recently in history. I suppose it would be too much trouble for people to squint at the gilt lettering on each spine and they'd all look alike, except maybe for different color lettering...
