I don't have specifics, if you google inferiority complex, you get a lot of sites, I assume you've looked at that. You say you have found books but don't want to buy them, have you tried getting them from a library or with an inter-library loan? That's the most I can give you, I'm afraid.
Yeah, pretty much. It would help if you gave a few indicators on what she might consider special, either in genres or authors or whatever, if you want a specific title.
If you go with the rare and/or signed edition, I recommend a website called Abebooks, they're one of the best resources to...
I think the public school system is in desperate need of reworking. How is where everything falls down, of course. About the only thing I know for certain is that they ought to increase the standards they use to hire teachers. I had an algebra class taught by a coach who could not count beyond...
Farthest answer from the truth. Any reader of Ted Dekker knows that Christian fiction does not equal boring, "clean" writing. True, you'll probably not find as much profanity and explicitness in most Christian writing, but we all know those things do not make a better book make, only when they...
Loved Master and Commander so much... Post Captain, good grief, I had to force myself through every page, I don't know what happened to O'Brien. It murdered my attention to the series, I have the third book, and I will get to it... but man that second book killed my interest!
I don't quite understand your comment about political correctness.
At any rate, we live in a time where books are about the only things left that can be politically incorrect, ironically graduated from days of book-banning and burning.
I knew a couple of girls with eating disorders, I...
No way would I stick to list! It makes me laugh to think of how badly I'd fail that effort.
The most organized I'll get is if I buy several books at a time and decide to read them one after the other. Most of the time I read one and say, "what am I in the mood for?" Honestly, it changes...
I felt ill about this trend before, now I'm alarmed. I don't understand why these authors don't simply write new material, as opposed to hijacking old names. I say hijacking because my hopes for good novels in these lines have been most mercilessly trampled. I read Dracula, The Undead and all I...
I have heard tell of a book called The Book of Common Dread by Brent Monohan that sounds very intriguing, I shall read it as soon as it's delivered and update my recommendation. It's out-of-print, I believe, so it's also harder to find.
If you google Books for Books blog contest, you'll find a page where if 250 people leave comments at the bottom of the page, publishers will donate 500 books to needy kids. This is probably the easiest way I've ever seen to get someone to give to the needy, so anyone who wants to, please leave a...
I'm in college and don't have kids, but I can tell you that it's not necessarily a horrible thing if your children aren't overly social. I'm not trying to direct you, but as a kid I was never very social, and I'm still not good at meeting people or making friends. I too spent a lot of time...
I've never tried GN adaptations of literature, but I do like graphic novels to a point. I've seen adaptations of Shakespeare's works, but they didn't impress me at all, the artwork didn't seem to fit very well. Might look up The Trial, though it sounds very interesting in that medium.
I ordered this as soon as I found out about it... I'm suspicious and worried as well, but I have to at least learn firsthand whether it's worthy or not.
Ordinarily, I'm mostly against sequels like this... when the original concluded so well (epically in fact), it doesn't demand a sequel. I...
I used to do it aesthetically. Then eventually, it got harder to find books, and the chaos began to irritate me so I switched to alphabetical by author. Eventually I'll have to break up fiction and nonfiction too.
The readers are better than I thought they would be when I first saw them, and if I had a choice, I'd definitely go with this one over the Kindle. That's hypothetical, though, it'll take the abolition of books to get me to lay down print.
Also, I read some time ago that Amazon reached over...
I have The Shining coming to me in a few days, it'll be my first full novel by Stephen King. Long delayed, I know. I have heard of Misery almost as often, though I prefer paranormal horror to torture.
Well, I don't see that there's a time interval beyond what you feel comfortable with. All authors have different advice on all things writing. C.S. Lewis shared his stories in chapter increments with Douglas Gresham so they could talk about what he'd written.
I might advise not waiting until...
