The Life of a Colonial Fugitive

Thanks for the feedback Thanks for the feedback everyone. To answer the question about how my character ends up in Siam, it's because he's forced to flee the country after being falsely accused of a war crime. Anyway, appreciate the feedback, good and bad. Leonardo Noto

    Hi from SoCal :)

I'm started quite the controversy! My, how an ill-advised comment can set off such a torrent;)

    Hi from SoCal :)

Fort Bragg Fort Bragg-- home of the 82nd Airborne, Special Forces, and LOTS of Cows! Of course, the fine citizens of Fayetteville, NC are now going to be boycotting my little, lonely novel!

    Hi from SoCal :)

Perhaps I shouldn't have worded that quite so strongly! Um, perhaps I shouldn't have worded my West Coast loving post quite so strongly! It's just that the cow town that Uncle Sam has me living in right now has me California Dreamin':whistling:

    Hi from SoCal :)

Welcome! Welcome. I'm a new member too. I'm so jealous that you're in SoCal right now...I can't wait until I'm through with Uncle Sam's Big Green Machine and back on the West Coast. Roger Crowley: Empires of the Sea

I recently read Empires of the Sea by Roger Crowley and I can't recommend it enough. The book explores a largely forgotten war, the battle for the Meditteranean Sea in the 15th-16th centuries b/t the Ottoman Empire and the Venetian Empire (and there allies). Truely a fascinating read that reads...

    Crichton's Historical Fiction

I recently read Pirate Latitudes and I was a wonderful read that was also very educational, as all of Michael Crichton's books are. Anyone else read this recently? I know that Mr. Crichton (R.I.P.) isn't traditionally known as a historical fiction author, but The Great Train Robbery and Eaters...

"The Lord of the Rings" vs "The Chronicles of Narnia"

Lotr Begin a huge LOTR fan, I've got to cast my vote for JRR Tolkien's series. The Narnia series is a fun read too, but I can't say that I'm a fan of the movies. I can't wait until The Hobbit movies come out (I've heard that they're doing it in two parts, correct me if I'm wrong)! Leonardo Noto
