Annoying people hogging seats in coffee shop
Sparkchaser,
It's b/c I'm one of those annoying people who orders a single cup of coffee and then stays for 5 hrs working on paperwork/writing. It's something that I learned in medical school...medical students are the one who started this trend...
I'm glad that I'm not the only one
Everytime I go into a Starbucks I have to stand in line behind four or five people ordering the latest suga-mocha-loca-with-double-soy...then I order my black coffee and people look at me like I'm the one making a weird request!
My new poem
It's a little on the simple side, but I think that it's fairly original:
"Jesus wept."
I'm not much for words, but let me know what you think.
Inland Empire
Yeah, I actually was guessing that you were from somewhere in the Inland Empire based on the background from some of the car pics that you had posted, Lovecraftian. Just another day in the pasture, here in cowtown...California Dreamin'. I know Riverside very well, too. I hear that...
Nice
Nice 86 'Vickey; love the volvo too. I wish I'd snapped a pic when some random guy parked his Cherry Red '57 Chevy down the block from my place a few days ago. The kid down the street runs a car washing business on the weekends and I get to see cool rides fairly routinely b/c of it. If...
I like the lower image a little bit better
I like the lower image a little bit better...just a tad  Amazing what the plastic surgeons can do these days (legal disclaimer: if those are real, that comment is a compliment to the owner of above said equipment and should not be interpreted in...
L.A. too big
Yes, it is a very spread out city. The reason for this is actually historically interesting. Cities -- such as NYC, San Francisco, and even Seattle -- that were built before the automobile tend to be highly nucleated and geographically smaller (with higher population densities)...
In SoCal?
Watch out for Lovecraftian, I'm a little bit suspicious of his loyalty to SoCal after reading some earlier, rather disturbing, postings... As for me, I may not be in SoCal, but my heart is...you should reflect on that, Lovecraftian. Reflect on it hard, my friend :D
Here's a freebie
My little lonely novel is free on Kindle and I (of course) highly recommend it. The Life of a Colonial Fugitive. Hey, and it's free  Panama is fun, btw. My father was stationed there just before we turned the canal over to the Panamanians and I got to tour the country and...

Brugada
Hey Chiangmaifalcon,
If you're ethnically Thai and you have ventricular tachycardia, it's a pretty good bet that you have Brugada syndrome. If you don't have a regular doctor, you definitely should have one.
Anyway,

Coffee and the Lactose Intolerant
Sawat dee cup, Chiangmaifalcon. Koon bpen kon Thai mai cup? I only speak a little. I used to box and I spent some time in Thailand in a boxing camp (which actually gave me some ideas that worked there way into my novel). Anyway, my particular coffee peeve is...
I recently made an "amazing" discovery that I think anyone who has a long car commute might appreciate. They're called The Great Courses, by The Teaching Company. These guys sell higher level undergrad and lower level masters courses in just about any subject you can think of. I recently...
