    James Patterson

I have read just one book by him, Cross Country. Though, I liked the beginning, and his hurried style that adds a sense of urgency and drama to narrative, I never read any other book by him. He is for me, one time read. And, I quite agree with msblueyez, his plots do repeat, even in the same...

Looking for stories of people from earth being sent to fantasy worlds

Anathem by Neal Stephenson, quite a huge one, with almost 900 pages, dedicated to people living in Mathic Age. Though, I am not quite able to grasp the full import and may not finish it anytime soon. But, seems quite a good one, if you are interested in alternate world/reality.

    Book Recommendation

Saki is one of my all time favorite. His stories have an old time charm and innocence, and a good timepass. Though, you could try some lndian stories as well, particularly by Rabindranath Tagore or R.K. Narayan

    Book Recommendation

Leo, if time is the only constraint, I suggest you to read short stories or rather collection of stories, wherein you can easily finish one at a time, and get satisfaction of reading a complete piece, instead of struggling with a massive novel.

    Book Recommendation

Just for the sake of brevity, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Can easily be finished in couple of hours.

looking for a good book (or 10) to read

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel could be a good start for historical fiction, it recreates the Tudor History based on religious and political skirmishes. Also, I recently read a few pages of Nefertiti by Michelle Moran online and absolutely loved it. I am looking forward to buy the book and finish...

    Fiction Suggestion

I am currently reading 'The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, it is definitely set in New England, and so far quite engaging, particularly the intro, where he paints colorful portraits of custom officers, almost as laid back and uninterested in their work, as would be their current...

For All of You Travel Addicts! What is Your Best Travel Novel and Why?

William Dalrymple is the only travel writer, I have read so far. He is an expert at converging travelogues with fantasy, creating a beautiful blend of history and fiction. Simply loved 'The City of Djinns'

    Salman Rushdie

Thanks for your early response. The quote definitely seems intriguing (especially the last para), though full of slangs. The book is on my TBR now.

    Salman Rushdie

Are Satanic Verses actually verses:innocent:, I mean whether the book is written in the form of a longish poem or is it in prose. Excuse my ignorance, but I have burnt my hands once and want to be sure whether Rushdie is really worth the high price tag?

    Stieg Larsson

And I thought Larsson was graphic enough ;)
