Read Oryx and Crake a while ago.Took a while for me to get into because I'm not really into the sci-fi, futuristic genre...but yea...After a couple of chapters you settle into the story and setting and it becomes very interesting.
Lol...It's funny that you posted that because they were talking about that on a show called the Panel here in Australia last night. That had that quote up as well. Very interesting ;)
I think the only reason why some people have these views is because of the popularity of the series. There's so much attention on it that maybe because it does deal with evil, that people are against it. Which I personally think is ridiculous because nearly all children novels deal with a form...
I use my bookmark with books on it...:) lol...It's just a large artistic like bookmark that they were selling at the Sydney Art Gallery and I saw it, loved it so I bought it. I never bought bookmarks before...use to make them or use scrap paper.
Hardback- I don't always go for them though, because of the price. But I've just found a bookstore that sells some hardbacks fairly cheap :) ...so I get them when I have the opportunity.
I use to love Roald Dahl's books! I remember Georges Marvellous Medicine was the first book I read by him. Then I got The Twits, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach...etc.etc.
I use to always read and re-read Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree Series too.
I'm reading Lord of the Flies right now for class as well. I'm only on Chapter 4 atm, and it's starting to really bore me. The story line looks like it will pick up though...
:) I just recently read Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Loved it!
Before that I read Emma by Jane Austen, which I liked, but took me a while to get into it.
