Same here for me, I don't really care what people think about me. I love reading books, as long as it's something that makes me feel happy and rewarding, I don't care what title the book bears.
Having said that, I must admit that I do judge people by what books they read. I try not to do...
Wow we have something in common there.
Catch-22, One Hundred Years of Solitude, Middlesex and A Clockwork Orange are on my 2008 reading list too ^.^
Well, I don't know how can we actually measure the reading speed? At least I don't know mine. I've tried to read really fast before, but...
I bought most of them from bookstores. I hardly ever borrowed books from library, just a few times per year. It's nice to smell old papers and whatnot, but I like to own books and love to read good books over and over again so yeah ;)
@nomadic: I'm doing good ^.^ just caught a little cold that's all. How about you?
@tyche: Yes since Australia is large (and a continent by itself!). I have friends in Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Tasmania, travelling shouldn't be hard! xD
Yes, I still do read for entertainment too. Besides, reading really makes me think and opens up my mind to a whole new world (different worlds all the time in fact). I enjoy plunging into the world created by the authors and linger there, lost in thoughts ... :)
Hey thanks for the warmth welcome and the helpful link too ^.^
so Tyche, you liked Singapore? Well ^.^ I'm surprised you remember Newton Circus too. Your profile says you're from Australia, I would love to visit Australia some time too!
I bought the paperback edition ^.^
Really love this book too, the story is very captivating. Once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down until you finish it! The language is simple yet concise and beautiful. Setterfield certainly weaved reality and fantasy together in the most...
It's really good which is why I bought it. I love his illustrations tremendously which is why I pestered my boyfriend for that boxset. It's really worth the money if you're a fan!
I really enjoyed The Silmarillion too. At the beginning, I had trouble getting through the book, but after a while I got used to his writing-style in this book and I really love it. I haven't finished the book but hopefully I will be able to do it soon! I also have the Unfinished Tales with me...
Oh wow! I can't wait! Used to be a big X-Files fan >.< Let's hope this will be a good one, it's been awhile since I've seen Duchovny and Anderson on the screen!
I've read Diane Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale and Zafon's The Shadow of The Wind :) I agree with what you said, except I would think that it's easier to cruise through The Thirteenth Tale. Zafon's The Shadow of The Wind started off quite interestingly, sadly it falters half-way and ends in a...
I'm a Chinese :) but I'm learning Japanese currently! I was thinking of saying "Hello" or "Hi" but then I thought I could make use of what I've been learning!
Thanks for the welcome!
Wow you guys sure buy a lot of books!
Here's what I got:
1. Lord of The Rings Box Set - J.R.R.Tolkien(I own the paperback edition too ^.^ but this one is a hardback edition with illustrations from Alan Lee, so I kinda 'pestered' my boyfriend and he got it for me!)
2. The War of The...
