Did you just want to read fiction? My outlook on alot of things has been impacted by some non-fiction books I have read. Alot of them deal with surviving seemingly unsurmountable odds, being pushed to the edge, learning about the human spirit etc... Don't know if this is what you had in mind, if...
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Yeah thanks for the recommendations! I actually thought Agincourt was a "stand alone" novel, I didn't know it was going to be a series. It will be interesting to see what Nicholas Hook is up to next...I'm 3/4 through "The Archer's Tale" and liking it pretty well, but I think I liked Nick Hook...
I am just about finished reading this one. I've never read any of Bernard Cornwell's books before, but I definitely will be reading more. Has anyone read Agincourt? What did you think about it? Overall I thought it was good. I enjoy reading about archers in the middle ages....Only small...
I saw the series on Amazon and thought I might like to read them as well. Looking at the reviews he really gets into historical facts (which I like), but does he go too much into the facts where it takes away from the stories?
Yeah I just rented it. It was well done. I particularly like the way the sergeant (main character) is immediately pinned as an almost suicidal andrenalin junkie type and is disrespected, but as the movie progresses his men begin to look to him for support and inspiration and realize he's not...
She also does a great job with folk/blues songs. If you search YouTube you can find some covers which are outstanding (not that her original work is not outstanding). A very mature & unique voice for someone her age.
Great, thanks for those. Beer Good I clicked on the Kafka link and it looks like only a few paragraphs. Is that an excerpt or is this a super short story?
I finished reading Gawandes Complications and I liked it quite well. He not only talks about the medicine, but deals with the psychological and philisophical dilemmas good doctors must honestly face. I think I will give Better a go, but at first glance it looks a little dry.
Great show. One of the few series out there I actually watched all the time. Some episodes weren't too great but overall it was a unique series, and Tony Shaloub is a great actor.
I've tried to read books which were highly praised, including that nobel thingey, but wasn't too impressed overall I suppose. What are YOU interested in.
