    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

Yes, I think choosing more current books would help. I read older ones often, but primarily read the newer ones. I believe most would prefer the recent books. How about a mixture, half and half?

    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

Botm I quite agree about the classics. Having them be on the list is one way to get to read them. I've read several good ones in the past few months and have learned a lot and revised my previous opinion. I recently read a Sherlock Holmes book and was astounded as his descriptions of characters...

    I'm looking for an editor

Hello all, I have a completed thriller/police procedural I'd love to self-publish on Amazon and B&N; however, the fee that free lance editors charge makes it impossible for me. I was wondering if anyone here might know of someone reasonable. Also, I am an experienced reviewer, have done...

    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

I'm not interested in the Virginia Wolff book either. I'll be watching for the fall books when you start up again. At the risk of sounding "common," I'm wondering if choosing some of the more current books, popular fiction, would result in more participation. Jazzy

    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

Alternating seems good to me. I have to confess I'm not terribly interested in reading the classics as I belong to a local group that concentrates on them. I am willing, however, to do so from time to time. I confess I don't quite understand the last post. If you're comparing anything to...

    Humor and Mystery Combined

Hi, I finished the book tonight - and liked it a lot. Catherine went through a nightmare of a day, making me glad I live alone. But what Frank saw is going to be on my mind. I'm assuming there's another book after this one. Let me know because I have to read it. Jazzy

I just bought Fergyville and look forward to reading it. If I had a Kindle, I'd take it with me tomorrow when I volunteer at the office where I used to work. However, I do have it on my computer kindle. By the way, is there a special place in B&R for self-promotion? Jazzy

    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

The Haunted Bookshop mysteries I recently discovered this series because, when at a library, I always pick a book by an author I'm not familiar with. I was so enchanted I read the rest of the series (5 out so far) and then bought them. It is about a young woman who buys into her aunt's...

    Humor and Mystery Combined

That's a good recommendation. I'm going to buy it. Goodreads is something I need to learn more about, though I'm really busy trying to learn marketing (not my strong suit) for my mystery series. I do like novellas and have 5 I'm in the process of finalizing before I find a publisher. Jazzy...

    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

How about some modern cozy mysteries, such as The Haunted Bookshop Mysteries by Alice Kimberly or, there's a new series about a White House chef, the first being State of the Onion. These are clever, well-constructed mysteries.

    Turning pages Down Under...

Hi, What part of Australia do you live in, or is it New Zealand? You seem like a very interesting person and you certainly have a varied interest in reading. I like fiction the best, but I do read other types as well. I recently read a wonderful book about a highly educated woman who had...

    BOTM:Suggestions, ideas and opinions

I have a suggestion for a book, though it's not a classic and is a cozy. I recently read five books in the Haunted Bookshop series and love them. They have a modern female protagonist and the ghost of a 1949 P.I. who helps solves the cases. The author is Alice Kimberly and the first one in the...

I too am new to this site and learning about the forum. There seems to be a lot going on. I'm looking forward to knowing more readers and writers. I'm a relatively new writer, learning about marketing. It's going to take me a while to figure out everything about this site, though. Jazzy33...

    Turning pages Down Under...

Hi, It seems that we have similar reading tastes. I read just about everything, though I'm not as much for nonfiction as fiction. I recently read a novel I was sure I wouldn't like, but since it was for a book club, I agreed to try it. It was one of the most wonderful, though heartbreaking...

    new writer

Hello, You have a fascinating history. I enjoyed reading about it. Since I like history and adventure, your book, Devils Bible, sounds intriguing. I'm definitely going to read it. Thanks for telling about it. I'm also an author, but not in the same genre as you. I write mysteries and have...
