So glad to see this. I hate reading writing advice or feedback that tells you to write according to the rules of a specific genre. I like to write the story I want to write first, then try to work out which genre is the 'best fit'.
I agree. I'll be checking out the other Q & A's to learn some more tips about writing.

One might politely suggest it's a pity readers close a path to enjoyment based on one element? :p
Seriously, I understand your aversion. I myself hate reading anything in first person present. But I try to keep my mind open to it as sometimes I find a little gem in this style :)
