Best wishes in your writing adventure, M.M.!
My field is entirely different; I have 4 female sleuth/cozy mystery books out in the Sally Nimitz series. The first,
The Death of Amelia Marsh, is a free ebook download in all retail settings, including Amazon and Smashwords -
and has over 60 4 and...
We found a 2013 television presentation, 13 episodes, called Catch Killers on Netflix streaming. Each episode
traces - through re-enactments - the history of forensics used in solving modern day murders, and compares the
first case to a recent crime where this method featured prominently in...
I thought the Maigret directors/producers did a good job of putting the stories together in the time
allotted... and yes, Gambon's portrayal - to me - was very good. Of course those who have read the
stories might feel differently. After reading about everything Christie ever put out, only...
Hmmm.... just wrote a 'reply' to Maine's post on Maigret and posted it.... but do not see it, so here it goes again.
My question was if anyone knows if the programs done in Britain decades ago based on the books followed the
book's characterization closely. We enjoyed the programs on vhs tapes...
I thought I had read every Ngaio Marsh book there was, but think maybe Night at the Vulcan escaped me.... can't have that.
My head is spinning, reading all of the information about successful books and authors in this gendre.
With the publication of my third ebook mystery, it seemed like the time to do a little self-promotion on this forum. There are three Sally Nimitz mysteries, now, all published in ebook format since June of 2012. The first, The Death of Amelia Marsh, is a free download through Smashwords and...
hear, hear, Tom! I have an ebook reader, I use it, but it simply is Not the same as
having a real book, and sharing is one of the great arguments for them.
there are Plenty of trees, and more being planted all the time, not to mention the
recyling of shavings and chips for great uses.
mmyap, might I recommend another book with almost the same title? It is called House, written by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker. I didn't get past the 3rd chapter because it IS the type of book it sounds like you are looking for! I really enjoyed other Peretti books, but this one was too creepy...
I've got so many books on the "must read" list I almost hated to take a look here, but I have a weakness for historical mysteries, and I live in Colorado. Plus a 4 stair review?
I'm hooked.
Ricko, when you have gotten through Poirot and Miss Marple, or if you need a break, there is always Dorothy Sayer's Lord Peter Whimsey or Ngaio Marsh's Inspector Allyn. :]
Ricko, surely you have read other Christie's Poirot? and if you liked this book, seeing
the movie with David Suchet is a Must! it is called Death in the Air, done about 1990.
I think her Poirot masterpiece has to be Murder on the Orient Express, but many others are extremely clever and well...
Ricko, yes, that is my understand from previous readings and a couple of great historical specials, that Grant was not a good president for the exact reasons you list.... for whatever reason, he was a terrible businessman, too. I wonder if Grant's Final Victory will tell in detail about when...
Ricko, thank you for letting me know about Grant's Final Victory, by C.B. Flood. I definitely want to read it. have seen documentaries and read books lately about the Civil War that informed about what a fascinating man he was.... so many individuals that eventually prove themselves brilliant...
the only book I have read - so far - by Bill Bryson is At Home. it was marvelous! so if you enjoyed A Short History of Nearly Everything, you would like this book also. going room to room in a home, but beginning with the history of glass in England, you will find out why we have the rooms in...
haven't heard anyone mention James Herriot in awhile.... Loved his books. you may be interested to know, if you don't his son wrote a biography of Alf Wight a few years after his death, and one of the things he talked about was how his dad disguised the real stories, including changing the time...
some of the best medieval fiction I have read is by Sharan Newman, forgive me Sharan if I have spelled your name wrong, don't have one on my shelf right now. but these are a series of books about a young woman of hidden Jewish ancestry who is going to become a nun, then meets a young man who...
I am about to begin The Greater Journey by David McCullough, and that will be fascinating for sure, a true story of Americans in our countries earlier days who went to Paris to learn and brought that knowledge back.... but in the meantime I found an old
Rex Stout fiction called The Mountain Cat...
